The Concerns and Problems Why People Should Not Colonize Mars
For a hundred years, astronomers, astrophysicists, and lots of people researched space. And, by this hard work, people could go to space including the moon! What about the Mars? There is a controversy between people about “should we colonize Mars”. The scientists who represent that it is okay to colonize Mars is Elon musk. He is a CEO of the company which researches space: spacex. Also, there are people who disagree with Mars colonization. The most famous person is Neil Degrasse Tyson. He is an famous astrophysicists. People should not colonize Mars because of health risks and the extensive costs in money and fuel required for such endeavor.
To begin with, people should not colonize Mars because of health risks to people. In Mars, the environment is really different from Earth So there could be a new virus but there is not any medicine to cure. The daily temperature range is so bad so the body could not adjust. According to A+PREP daily, “with surface temperature averaging -63degrees, a thin atmosphere composed mainly of carbon dioxide, and radiation levels far exceeding those on Earth, survival on Mars would require an extraordinary amount of infrastructure and innovation”. Also, there is not much oxygen, so people struggle to breath and the blood circulation gets worse. If this continues, people can die after they return to Earth by hypoxia and different virus in Mars.
Second, colonizing Mars demands excessive funding and resources. To colonize Mars, people should go there by riding a rocket but the rocket needs lot of fuel. Also, it needs so much money. AP opinion states, “the spacex starship, which is being developed for interplanetary travel, has an estimated cost of $10billion for its first missions”. Also, there should be a place for people to live. But, there is not in Mars so the government should invest a lot of money to build the station. However, some people argue that people do not need to buy food and grow because there could be a food that people could eat and people do not need to buy and take it to Earth. But if the food is vegetable, there should be a place to grow it. But there is not. Then people should build one and it needs too much money. This leads to the country who invested loses much money. People need billions of dollars and it is a big money to the government.
In conclusion, people should not colonize Mars because of health risks, and the extensive costs in money and fuel required for such endeavor. In summary, the daily temperature range in Mars is really different from the Earth so people could not adjust in that, and the government needs to invest billions of dollars to build spaceships and places to live. The technology has developed, and there is a little hope to make people go to Mars and colonize. However, it is a risky business and needs too much money to achieve this goal. Instead of thinking about colonizing Mars, people should think about Earth restoration because of climate change. People should protect the Earth, not planning to go to Mars.
