Beware the frozen heart...
'Born of cold and winter air/And mountain rain combining...'이라는 가사를 보면, '추위와 겨울의 공기 그리고 산의 빗물이 모여 태어난'것이 바로 얼음임을 알 수 있다. 'This icy force both foul and fair/Has a frozen heart worth mining'에서는 '이 얼음의 힘은 사악하고도 공정해서 얼어붙은 심장은 캘만한 가치가 있는 것'이라고 노래한다. 얼음을 캐는 사람들의 노동요로 시작하는 작품은 이미 작품의 분위기와 엘사라는 인물의 캐릭터성을 모두 이 노래에서 그려내고 있다. 자연의 강렬한 조합은 배경이 되는 북유럽계의 차갑고 맹렬한 겨울의 모습과 엘사의 자연 원소적인 성격과 엘사의 얼리는 마법의 힘, 그리고 고독하고 외로운 환경까지 한꺼번에 표현하고 있기 때문이다. 그리고 엘사의 시그니처 음악 'Let It Go'와 같은 'let it go'역시 이미 이들의 노래에서 등장한다.
'Beautiful!/Powerful!/Dangerous!/Cold!//Ice has a magic, can't be controlled./Stronger than one! Stronger than ten!/Stronger than a hundred men!'에서 역시 '아름답고/강력하고/위험하고/차가운!//얼음은 마법을 가지고 있고, 그것은 통제될 수 없지/한 사람 보다도 강력하고! 열 사람 보다도 강력하고! 백 사람보다도 강력한!'에서는 엘사의 성격이 아주 적나라하게 드러난다. 엘사는 아름답고 강력하지만 고독하고 타인을 멀리는 것에 익숙하며 통제되지 않는 마법 때문에 위험하다. 그녀는 처음에는 타인과 전투에서 미숙한 모습을 보이지만 이내 강력해져 일당백의 능력을 뽐내게 되기도 한다. 2편에서 협곡을 가득 채우는 급류를 홀로 막아내는 경지의 힘을 가지게 되는 사람이니 그 힘은 더 말할 필요가 없다.
그리고 마지막의 경고 'Beware the frozen heart'역시 얼어붙은 얼음들은 강력하지만 그것만이 전부는 아니므로 진짜 '마음이 얼어붙는 일은 조심하라'는 경고의 역할까지 하고 있다. 흔히 논문을 쓸 때 서론에서 본론의 내용이 모두 압축적으로 드러나 있게 쓰라고 하는 것과 같이 영화의 첫 부분이자 서론에 해당하는 얼음 캐는 사람들의 노래에서도 작품 전체가 제시되고 있는 것이다.
