31가지 혁신의 정의 공통점은
1. 혁신이란 단어를 사용하는 조직, 제품에 따라 정의의 차이가 있지만, 목표는 명확히 설정되어야 한다.
2. 하지만 공통점은 경제적 혹은 복지 등 정책 추진 목적에 적합한 가치를 창출해야 한다는 점.

기술적으로 혁신은 단지 "새로운 것의 도입"으로 정의되지만, 어떤 것이 얼마나 파괴적이고 세상을 놀라게 하는 것인지에 대한 qualifier는 없다. 단지 이전의 것 보다 우수하면 된다. 일반적으로 컨설팅회사에 "혁신적 서비스"요구할 때 문제가 발생한다. 정확히 요구하는게 무엇일까? 실제로 혁신은 다른 사람들에게 과거에 없었던 다른 것들을 의미한다.
