[Essay2] Enough is enough

My departure day to go back to Korea is getting closer. It's exciting but kind of subtle. What I think about The United States is a great country and at the same time, there are lots of issues that I, as a foreigner, feel unsafe and dangerous about as well. I'd say if you are a materialist, you should come and see all the fancy cars, huge houses, rare wines, luxury fashion stuffs etc. You name it. Everything is sitting right here and will drive you to be rich! Let's say fashion. Designer brands' stores are mostly located in New York and Los Angeles with tons of unique items available. Recently I purchased a corduroy jacket by Celine, which is very hard to find at any other stores. Wine lovers, including myself, can find and buy most wines you'd like to drink online with a quick delivery. It enabled me to taste great wines like French first grwoths and Italian premium wines. What if the wine that you purchased is corky or deficient? The clerks don't even ask all the details to get your nerve and just send a new bottle of wine right away! God bless America.

I've met many koreans who have been living over 10 years or so in United Sates and asked them about their American life as a foreigner. Overall, it's satisfying especially when it comes to financial factors, since a job market in America is quite active and there are many chances and options to make money in various ways. As you know, USA is the most powerful nation in this era and US dollar is the highest value as of today, August 23rd 2022.

On the other hand, hate crimes, divisions and massive gun shootings are also ongoing. Maybe some people would say that those are rarely going to happen to you unless you live in a sketchy area. Well, unfortunately I had to deal with some ridiculous insults while working, walking on the street and even driving. Be aware of that and just avoid haters. If you try to fight back, it could escalate the situation into a big problem and you would have to resolve a serious trouble. Law enforcement is not generous much to embrace your "self-defense", even more difficult for non-resident alien. It's not acceptable for me to go through those unfair and discriminatory situations that can happen anytime and anywhere.

After weighing pros and cons from my perspective, I finally decided to leave, because of those listed reasons. Although I will miss all the kind people who I've met and worked with, I will stick to what I want to be.
