4 months left
Whattt? It is really unreal that only 4 months are left to stay in NYC. Yes, I am currently staying in NYC since last September and it has been 4 months already. On late July 2019, I took the NY Bar exam and fortunately, I passed! Started studying after my graduation of law school, following BarBri schedule. Two months of barprep were the most precious time of my LL.M year. I could spend a lot of time with folks, without a kid. After the bar exam in Buffalo, we went to the Niagara Falls and had "Buffalo Wings" together, and yes, it was a lit.
After the bar exam, I travelled NY, Chicago, San Francisco and Portland alone, and those days were absolutely shining and glittering moments of my life. Wish I can have such precious opportunities again before going back to Seoul this summer...
When I decide where to live in NYC for work, my close friends highly recommended to live in Manhattan, rather than in New Jersey, considering that I would live only short period in NYC and it would be a very good chance to look around and enjoy NY life without loosing time for commuting into downtown. The decision to pay more than $4K for a monthly rent for just a one-bedroom apartment in Upper West Side was confirmed as one of the best decisions I made in 2019. Can get to the Lincoln Center by walk within 10 minutes from home, and also easily go to work atthe 49th Street and 7th Avenue by bike or metro. It is very peaceful and superb although the place itself is not big enough. I really love my place and even want to buy this unit if I can. (I know they do not sell the unit and I have no reason to buy an apartment in Manhattan tho)
From September to December, I studied Bahasa Indonesia and Japanese language as I have good folks from Indonesia and Japan. But studying was not intensive nor regular. Feel that I should set some goals and objects for efficiency now, before I lost remaining periods in America.
New Year's Resolution (from Jan. to Apr.)
- To pass NYLE
- To write a diary (either in Eng or Kor)
- To prepare JLPT
- To keep studying with Mba Sri for Bahasa Indonesia
- To read any New Yorker writings every day
- To listen Audible books; and
- To enjoy life in America.
New Year's Resolution (from May to Jun.)
- To spend time with family (hope I can live one or two months in Switzerland)
New Year's Resolution (from Jul.~)
- To balance between work and life with kids
- To save money again (I spent too much amount so far)
No matter what I do, stay strong in Jejus. Then he will make it for me, I believe. Try not to forget that I should appreciate every day in America which will be hardly given to me again...
