"너희 뿔을 높이 들지말라"

Psalms 75: 5-7
너희뿔을 높이 들지 말며 교만한 목으로 말하지 말지어다.
무릇 높이는 일이 동쪽에서나 서쪽에서 말미암지 아니하며 남쪽에서도 말미암지 아니하고
오직 재판장이신 하나님이 이를 낮추시고 저를 높이시느니라.

Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor form the south. But God is the judge: he puts down one, and sets up another.
-Psalms 75:5-7-
Horn on high: “A metaphor from untamed and stiff-necked oxen, which will not bow their heads to receive the yoke, but lift up their heads and horns to avoid it.”
Do not speak with a stiff neck: The figure of the stiff neck was taken from the world of agriculture, where ox or cattle might resist the yoke for plowing and other work. God cautioned the proud and wicked not to resist Him in the same way.
But God is the Judge: Every successful person, everyone exalted in some way, should humbly look to God with gratitude. It is God who puts down one, and exalts another. A humble mind and heart is the proper response, instead of boastful words, the celebration of one’s own strength, or resistance against God.

묵상 - 소는 일하지 않기 위해 멍에를 지지 않으려고 자신의 목을 뻣뻣이 세우고 뿔을 세웠다.
교만한 사람들의 모습이 이러한 소와 같았기에 저자는 소의 비유를 들어 인간에게 경고를 한다. 하나님께서 교만한자를 심판하시기 때문이다.
하나님께서는 마음이 겸손한 자를 찾으신다. 마음이 겸손하다는 것은 마음밭이 부드러워 말씀을 잘 받아들이고 그 말씀을 따라 순종하는 것을 말한다. 겸손은 자신을 낮추고, 맡은 바일에 충성을 다하는 것이다.
소는 일하지 않으려고 목을 뻣뻣이 세우고 자신의 뿔을 세웠다. 인간의 교만함도 일하기를 싫어하고, 남들의 지시에 따르려하지 않고 자신의 생각대로 자신이 원하는대로 하기를 원하는 태도이다. 교만함은 게으름과 악함의 태도이다.
The ox stiffened its neck and raised its horns to avoid being yoked to work.
Since the appearance of proud people is like these cows, the author warns humans by citing the analogy of cows. Because God judges the proud. God is looking for the humble in heart. Being humble in heart means having a soft heart and accepting the Word well and obeying the Word. Humility is to humble oneself and be loyal to one's duty. The cow stiffened its neck and raised its horns to avoid working. Human arrogance is also an attitude of not wanting to work, and wanting to do as one wants according to one's own thoughts without trying to follow the instructions of others. Pride is an attitude of laziness and wickedness.
