I announce my name, Kunah Jung

This brunch book, “Talking About Myself Through Dots, Lines and Shapes”, is about me, Kunah Jung. I dream of becoming a children's story writer.

In this article, which will become the cornerstone of revealing to the world and creating myself as a brand,  I reveal in a realistic way the earnest experimental process of finding myself and branding myself.

In this first article to brand myself, I'm trying to break down my name into (understandable) pieces.

I live in Australia,

My name is Kun... Ah... Jung.

무궁화나무 근(槿) + 예쁠 아(娥)

“Kun” means “hibiscus”

“Ah” means “beautiful”

The name Kunah contains the flower of Korea, hibiscus.

It is an uncommon name in Korea, but even more so in Australia.

Being unique means being distinctive, so I try to live as a special person worthy of my name.

Kunah with a unique charm.

Kunah with the beauty of the hibiscus.

I may not feel a grand sense of responsibility representing Korea, but even so, I try to live a life that is beneficial rather than harmful to the image of the hibiscus, which represents Korea.

So, I declare:

First! I am Kun... Ah. a person who represents South Korea.

Kun . Ah

Kun... Ah. Try pronouncing it clearly.

Kun.  The tip of the tongue sticks to the inside edge of the upper teeth, trapping air in the mouth.

Ah.  The entire mouth opens, releasing the air into the outside.

Trap and open. (or close and open)

It is the fundamental principle of rotation of all things in the world, according to "Paehap" (Note 1).

whereas "Hap" means closing your mouth and being silent, symbolizing “Yin”.

"Pae" means opening your mouth and speaking, symbolizing “Yang”,

I can say that both the beginning and the end can be found in my name, so it contains the whole. In addition, my name contains the golden mean of polarities* that embraces all opposites, such as good and evil, Heaven and Earth, above and below, and horizontal and vertical.

So, I declare:

Second! I am Kun... Ah. a person who embodies the golden mean of polarities  and dualities.

When looking at the three basic vowels of Hangul (the Korean alphabet), these can be expressed as '' (dot), 'ㅡ' (horizontal bar), and 'ㅣ' (vertical bar), symbolizing sky, land, and a person, and known as “Cheonjiin”.

This time, I will break down my name into consonants and vowels.

ㄱ ㅡ ㄴ ㅇ ㅣ •

'' (dot or “cheon”) represents the round shape of the sky,

’ (horizontal bar or “ji”) refers to the flat shape of the land,

'' (vertical bar or “in”) symbolizes the shape of a person standing upright.

Because of this,

In Eastern philosophy, sky, land, and people are called “the three resources or treasures” and are considered the fundamental elements of all things (Note 2).

So, I declare:

Third! I am Kun... Ah. a person who loves sky, land and people, which are “Cheonjiin”.

My name is Kun... Ah.

I exist between sky and land.

I love all of the Cheonjiin, which are sky, land and people.

Embracing the principles of polarity of the universe,

As a child of South Korea living in Australia,

I will pursue a life that protects the fundamentals of the world.

Just as my name is scattered to show sky, land, and people,

I will convey my heart with love to everyone.

Just as my names come together to represent the beautiful hibiscus,

I will stand proud as a Korean even in Australia.

When my name becomes a sound,
It closes and opens according to the principles of the universe and the great laws of the world.

I will prove my life is worthy of a human.

My name. Kunah

An identity that represents me.

I declare on this page that I am a valuable being worthy of my name!
