What motivates people to move?
In general, the driving forces that move people are money, fun, and meaning. What Koreans are good at is making money-earning work boring, or making meaningful work boring.
Over the past 30 years of my social life, I have experienced many organizations. No matter which organization I go to, it's not fun. Whether it's an organization that's looking for money or one that's looking for meaning, no one is happy when I'm in the boardroom. How can productivity, enthusiasm, and creativity emerge from such an unpleasant atmosphere?
Fun breeds passion, and passion multiplies productivity. If it doesn't make money, isn't fun, or doesn't have meaning, your life becomes a tragedy. At least one of the three things in your life must be met.
Pause and think.
Are you doing something that makes money right now? Are you doing something fun right now? Are you doing something meaningful right now? If you don't have any of these, you need to redesign your life right now.
It's a blessing if you have fun making money and if you can do it meaningfully. I hope that when you are young, you will pursue money and fun, and when you are older, you will be able to do things that you like and are meaningful to you.
I want to see you overflowing with money, fun, and meaning.
