제가 대학교 총장님들과 삼성장학회 박사급 장학생 1,000여 명 그리고 여러 부자들을 만나 20년간 대화하면서 특징적으로 느낀 점 하나가 바로, 그들의 풍부한 어휘력과 문맥에 맞는 정확한 단어의 사용능력입니다.

부유한 사람과 가난한 사람의 가장 큰 차이는 사용하는 단어의 수준입니다. 부자들은 어휘력이 풍부합니다. 특히 돈을 버는데 필요한 경제용어를 많이 알고 적재적소에 사용합니다. 반면, 가난한 사람들은 어휘력이 빈약합니다. 특히 돈을 버는데 필요한 경제용어에 서투르고 적절하게 사용하지도 못합니다.

한마디로 부자들은 부자의 말을 사용하고, 가난한 사람들은 가난한 말을 사용합니다. 자신이 사용하는 말에 따라 부자가 되기도 하고, 가난한 사람이 되기도 합니다. 사용하는 말이 부자와 가난한 사람을 결정합니다. 사용하는 말에는 세금이 붙지 않습니다. 부자가 되고 싶다면, 부자들이 사용하는 말을 자세히 들어보세요. 그리고 부자들이 사용하는 부유하고 가치 있는 말을 공부해서, 돈이 들어오도록 적극적으로 사용해야 합니다.

Having met university presidents, 1,000 doctoral-level scholarship students from the Samsung Scholarship, and rich people for 20 years, one of the distinctive things I felt was their rich vocabulary and ability to use accurate words appropriate to the context.
