사회생활을 할 때 외모는 얼마나 중요할까요? 외모를 가꾸지 않고 자연인처럼 사는 게 좋을까요, 적절하게 외모를 가꾸면서 사는 게 좋을까요? 깊은 산속에서 혼자 사는 게 아니라면, 자신의 개성이 나타날 수 있도록 적절하게 외모를 가꾸며 사는 게 좋다고 생각합니다.
첫인상이라는 말이 있지요. 대체로 첫인상을 좌우하는 첫 번째 요소가 외모일 겁니다. 사람을 처음 만나서 마음을 들여다볼 수 없으니, 눈에 보이는 외모로 사람을 판단할 수밖에 없습니다. 물론 성격 인성 태도 등 외모보다 중요한 요소들이 많이 있습니다. 하지만 사람들이 얼마나 외모를 중시하면 “외모로 사람을 판단하지 말라.”는 말까지 생겼을까요?
배우처럼 잘생긴 사람도 외모를 가꿔야 하겠지만, 보통 사람도 외모를 가꿔야 합니다. 용모를 단정히 하고, 옷도 개성이 드러나도록 입는 게 좋습니다. 외모가 출중하여 플러스 점수를 받으면 좋겠지만, 적어도 외모를 소홀히 여겨 마이너스 점수를 받지는 않아야 합니다. 외모를 가꾸는 건 자신을 사랑하는 하나의 방법입니다. “보기 좋은 떡이 먹기도 좋다.”는 말처럼 적절하게 외모를 가꾸면서 사람들에게 인정받는 사람이 되기를 바랍니다. 그리고 개성을 살리는 모습으로 당당하게 생활하는 당신을 보고 싶습니다.

Is it better to live like a natural person without taking care of your appearance, or is it better to live while taking proper care of your appearance? Of course, there are many more important factors than appearance, such as personality, character, and attitude. However, people consider appearance so important that there is even a saying, “Don’t judge people by their appearance.”
Good-looking people like actors need to take care of their appearance, but ordinary people also need to take care of their appearance. It is a good idea to look neat and wear clothes that show off your personality. It would be nice to get plus points because you look good, but at least you shouldn't get minus points for not taking care of your appearance. Taking care of yourself is a way to love yourself.
