The Tree

Now I remember it all

I sat next to the tree

The tree welcomed me into her shade

I stayed until I was rested

And promised I’d be back soon

I forgot about our promise

I forgot about the tree

I forgot about our memories

I forgot about your love

I lived happily for a while

Or at least I thought Idid

But then I started feeling lonely again

And needed someone to lean on

I tried to drown myself in laughter

I tried to be the funny girl again

I tried to seem all happy and fine

Yet inside I was being soaked in the rain

Till I remembered the tree

The tree which had welcomed me long ago

I wasn’t sure if it was still there

But I clenched onto the last few straws of hope

The tree was still there standing straight

Just as it was back then tall and proud

The same old tree standing there

On the very same spot I first found it

It had always been there

It had always been waiting for me

It had bloomed flowers and changed leaves

But it was still there at the very same place

I remembered the promise we made

I remembered the loving tree

I remembered all the memories we shared

I remembered your thoughtful words

A little late I have tosay

But now I remember it all
