Café, Study, and a Sudden Snow

sometimes I found me alone.

by 김예림

After class today, I felt a wave of tiredness settle in.

I had a simple meal and tried to rest, but even by 6 p.m., the heaviness lingered.

So I decided to step outside—

to refresh my mind, maybe find a cozy café, and get some studying done for tomorrow.

But as I opened the door, I was greeted by a sudden, silent snowfall.

It caught me off guard, in the most tender way.

At that moment, a few friends called—

checking in, asking how things are going.

We exchanged little updates, the kind that carry more feeling than words.

And then, a quiet sadness settled in.

If I were in Korea, I thought,

maybe I could’ve met someone tonight,

walked through the snow together,

shared warm drinks and warmer laughter.

But here I am, in Ulaanbaatar.

It’s okay.

Tomorrow’s class starts early—8 a.m.—

so tonight, I’ll simply sit by the window,

watching the snow fall gently over this foreign city.

And somehow… that feels enough for me.
