Introduction
장윤석은 학자를 꿈꿨다. 그러나 기후위기의 진실은 지금이 방 한 켠에서 한가로이 연구할 때가 아님을 말해주었다. 온 세상이 물 혹은 불에 휩싸일 것이기에, 방주를 만드는 목수가 되기로 했다. 목수의 다른 이름이 액티비스트 리서처라 생각한다.
대학에서 사회과학을 전공하고 있다. 환경사회학, 생태경제학, 개발학, 한국철학을 함께 배우고 있다. 요새는 기후위기와 그린뉴딜 공부에 매진 중으로, 탈성장, 토지공개념, 사회적경제, 순환경제, 기후우울, 기후계급, 기후금융도 빼놓으면 섭섭한 주제다. 가장 존경하는 철학자로는 김상봉과 이반 일리치를, 사회과학자로는 헨리 조지, 칼 맑스, 칼 폴라니를 꼽는다. 너도나라와 생태적지혜연구소에서 연구하고, 녹색당과 공기네트워크, 청년기후긴급행동에서 활동한다.
서울에서 태어났으나 서울에는 애증의 감정을 가지고 있다. 어릴 적 잠깐 인도 실롱에서 산 적이 있는데 영문을 모르게 그곳이 고향처럼 여겨진다. 이와 함께 아시아 곳곳을 여행해서인지 그곳에서 일어나는 일들이 남 나라 일 같지가 않다.
올해 5월 7일 빚어진 LG화학의 인도 비카샤파트남 가스 참사가 특히 그랬다. 코린도와 포스코인터네셔널이 인도네시아 파푸아에서 빚은 생태학살도, 한국전력과 두산중공업이 강행한 해외 석탄발전 투자 건설도 그랬다. 아야프에서 ‘한국 기업의 전 지구적 생태학살’이라는 주제 아래 이들을 다룬다.
나이 서른이 되면 어느 한적한 마을로 떠나 학문 공동체를 일구고 싶다. 이반 일리치의 CIDOC(문화교류문헌자료센터)처럼, 오늘을 뒤집고 내일로 가는.
Yunseok Jang dreamed of being a scholar. But the truth of climate crisis tells me it is not the time to ‘only’ study in the room or lab. The whole world will be swept away by fire or flood, I decide to become a carpenter who makes an ark. Its other name is an activist researcher.
Majoring social science
in university. And Study with Ecological economics, environmental sociology, development studies, Korean philosophy. These days, focusing on the climate crisis and green new deal. De-growth, giogism, social economy, circular economy, climate depression, climate class, and climate finance are also primary topics. I respect Kim Sang bong and Ivan Illich as philosopher, also like Karl Marx, Henry Georgy, and Karl Polanyi as a social scientist.
Study in Neodonala, research in Ecosophia lab, and active in Green party, Gongi-network, Youth climate emergency action.
Born in Seoul, but feel disillusionment there. When I was young I lived in Shillong, India for a moment. I regard there as hometown, but I don’t know why. With this, I traveling in Asia frequently, so I feel Asia’s accident as not other country’s matters.
LG Chem’s India Bikashapatnam gas disaster, Korindo and Posco international’s illegal land exploitation and ecocide of Indonesia Papua, Kepco and Dosan’s overseas coal power plant investment and construction decision are like that. I will research this by ‘Global ecocide of Korean companies’ in AYARF.
When be thirty years of age, I want to go to a quiet local village and making a study community. Like Ivan Illich's CIDOC, for turning today upside down and going to tomorrow.
