Flashdance,1983. Jennifer Beals.(1963.12.19, Yale Univ.
Jennifer Beals' Early life
"Beals was born and raised in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Jeanne (née Anderson), an elementary school teacher, and Alfred Beals, who owned grocery stores. Beals' father was African-American, and her mother is Irish-American. She has two brothers, Bobby and Gregory. Her father died when Beals was 9 years old, after which she spent a summer at Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, Colorado. Her mother married Edward Cohen in 1981. Beals says her biracial heritage affected her... she "always lived sort of on the outside", with an idea "of being the other in society". She got her first job at the age of 13 at an ice cream store, using her height at the time (she is now 5 ft 8 in [1.73 m]) to convince her boss she was 16. She was inspired to become an actress by two events: working on a high school production of Fiddler on the Roof and seeing Balm in Gilead with Joan Allen while volunteer-ushering at the Steppenwolf Theatre. Beals graduated from Francis W. Parker School, then participated in Goodman Theatre Young People's Drama Workshop. She graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in American Literature in 1987. She deferred a term so she could film Flashdance.[10] While at Yale, Beals was a resident of Morse College."(Retrived from Wiki)
제니는 고교시절 <지붕위의 바이올린Fiddler on the roof> 고교프로덕션에서 일하고 <길르앗 향수balm in Gilead>를 보면서 배우의 꿈을 갖은것으로 보인다.

00:02:41,320 --> 00:02:44,290
I'll tell you what.
I'll give you the Cowboys and three.
2
00:02:44,520 --> 00:02:47,046
- Three and a half.
- Take three, be happy.
3
00:02:47,360 --> 00:02:49,681
Three and a half, I'm ecstatic.
4
00:02:57,160 --> 00:02:58,605
Anybody fixed that?
5
00:03:41,000 --> 00:03:45,289
Hey, is this visit a one-time shot,
or are you gonna surprise me all the time?
6
00:03:45,480 --> 00:03:47,926
If I told you that, it wouldn't be a surprise.
7
00:03:48,160 --> 00:03:49,571
Come on.
I'll buy you a beer.
8
00:06:17,920 --> 00:06:21,641
If I come up with the scoop on her,
I get Dallas at three and a half.
9
00:06:23,080 --> 00:06:25,731
If you come up with anything on her,
I'll give you six.

Number 174-63-1503.
11
00:07:08,000 --> 00:07:09,889
Pete, I don't want her zip code.
12
00:07:10,080 --> 00:07:14,529
It's her Social Security number, asshole.
She works for you.
13
00:07:38,640 --> 00:07:40,722
I have one cheese, medium, fries.
14
00:07:40,920 --> 00:07:45,050
Two plain, rare, tomato and onions.
One pastrami on kaiser, mayo, no mustard.
15
00:07:45,880 --> 00:07:48,645
What's a pimple on a Polack's ass?
16
00:07:48,840 --> 00:07:50,763
I need a BLT on rye, Richie.
17
00:07:51,000 --> 00:07:52,047
A brain tumor.
18
00:07:56,240 --> 00:07:58,641
- Richie.
- What's this?
19
00:07:59,480 --> 00:08:01,084
Come on, Richie.
20
00:08:01,280 --> 00:08:04,170
A lesbian with a hard-on.
21
00:08:04,320 --> 00:08:07,722
I'm terrific, right? You can tell me.
I can take it. I'm terrific, right?
22
00:08:07,960 --> 00:08:09,450
Mayo, no mustard.
23
00:08:09,640 --> 00:08:11,688
Can't you see me opening up
in L.A., Jeanie?
24
00:08:11,880 --> 00:08:15,441
Here he is, direct from Pittsburgh.
It's Richie Blazik, ladies and gentlemen.
25
00:08:15,680 --> 00:08:19,162
L.A.?
What's all this talk about L.A.?
26
00:08:19,760 --> 00:08:24,402
You've been on the stage two times.
I give you two lousy shots...
27
00:08:24,600 --> 00:08:27,001
...and already you're talking
about going to L.A.?
28
00:08:27,200 --> 00:08:31,364
Come on. What are you, crazy?
Besides, you're too short anyway.
29
00:08:31,560 --> 00:08:34,370
They don't let short people
into Hollywood.
30
00:08:35,200 --> 00:08:38,283
And you're making the hamburgers
too big again.
31
00:08:38,520 --> 00:08:40,727
Make them smaller?
32
00:08:42,800 --> 00:08:44,131
Small?
I'll give you small.
33
00:08:44,320 --> 00:08:47,688
This place is so small, you have to
go outside to change your mind.
34
00:08:56,480 --> 00:08:57,766
My turn.
35
00:08:59,880 --> 00:09:02,884
Ring, damn you.
I can't believe it. He didn't call.
36
00:09:03,120 --> 00:09:04,281
He'll call.
37
00:09:04,520 --> 00:09:07,410
- Do you really think so?
- Of course. Why wouldn't he?
38
00:09:07,600 --> 00:09:11,969
Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't he?
Maybe he'll call. I don't know.
39
00:09:12,760 --> 00:09:15,161
I don't know. The last time
I talked to him, he seemed funny.
40
00:09:15,360 --> 00:09:17,408
Like, "Call you later, babe."
41
00:09:17,600 --> 00:09:20,440
- I don't think he'll call.
- Don't worry. He'll call.
42
00:09:20,480 --> 00:09:23,131
- You really think so?
- Of course. Why wouldn't he?
43
00:09:23,320 --> 00:09:26,881
You're right. He'll call. But if he doesn't,
do you think I should call him?
44
00:09:27,080 --> 00:09:28,127
Tina, he'll call.
45
00:09:28,320 --> 00:09:31,927
I love how you're always trying
to straighten out other people's lives.
46
00:09:32,240 --> 00:09:35,130
Well, anytime you want me to
straighten out yours, just let me know.
47
00:09:37,960 --> 00:09:41,089
Well, personally, I never call,
because I don't have to.
48
00:09:41,280 --> 00:09:43,009
- But if you want my advice...
- Not really.
49
00:09:46,560 --> 00:09:48,767
- Hi, girls.
- Hi, Richie.
50
00:09:48,960 --> 00:09:50,725
Can I help you with anything?
A foot massage?
51
00:09:51,800 --> 00:09:54,451
- Get out of here.
- Dog. Dog.
52
00:09:54,640 --> 00:09:56,841
- It's been a long time since he's had some.
- I'll bet.
53
00:09:59,360 --> 00:10:00,441
Hi.
54
00:10:02,680 --> 00:10:03,841
Hi.
55
00:10:06,640 --> 00:10:08,165
Do you read lips?
56
00:10:08,640 --> 00:10:09,926
What?
57
00:10:10,440 --> 00:10:12,522
I saw you dance last night.
58
00:10:14,560 --> 00:10:16,244
I just wanted to say hi.
59
00:10:16,440 --> 00:10:17,487
Hi.
60
00:10:17,760 --> 00:10:19,171
You're Alex.
61
00:10:19,920 --> 00:10:21,046
I know.
62
00:10:22,160 --> 00:10:24,049
I'm Nick Hurley.
63
00:10:24,240 --> 00:10:25,605
Really?
64
00:10:27,280 --> 00:10:29,886
I've seen your name on my paychecks.
65
00:10:31,520 --> 00:10:34,330
So what's a dancer doing
working as a welder?
66
00:10:35,040 --> 00:10:37,407
A girl's gotta make a living.
67
00:10:40,000 --> 00:10:42,970
- You speak French?
- No, I just like the pictures.
68
00:10:43,200 --> 00:10:46,329
- Me, too.
- Hey, Nick. We need you on ten.
69
00:10:46,520 --> 00:10:48,488
Yeah, I'll be right there.
70
00:10:49,240 --> 00:10:51,083
- You read Vogue?
- I used to.
71
00:10:51,280 --> 00:10:53,248
I mean, my wife does.
I mean, my ex-wife.
72
00:10:53,440 --> 00:10:56,364
I'm... We're divorced.
73
00:10:56,560 --> 00:10:58,005
Sorry.
74
00:10:58,280 --> 00:11:00,487
Listen, I got to get to work.
75
00:11:01,520 --> 00:11:04,808
You never know when the boss
is gonna be around.
76
00:11:17,880 --> 00:11:20,087
You forgot your thermos.
77
00:11:49,760 --> 00:11:51,091
Hi, Grunt.
78
00:11:59,760 --> 00:12:02,001
So did you get laid today?
79
00:12:13,800 --> 00:12:16,531
<i>And now, news headlines with Kevin Evans.</i>
80
00:12:16,920 --> 00:12:18,604
<i>Good evening.
In the news...</i>
81
00:12:18,840 --> 00:12:21,207
<i>...a general-alarm fire
caused extensive damage...</i>
82
00:12:21,400 --> 00:12:24,165
<i>...to the High View lumber company,
a United Dairy store...</i>
83
00:12:24,360 --> 00:12:27,967
<i>...and an American Motors dealership in
Washington County, this morning.</i>
84
00:12:28,280 --> 00:12:31,181
<i>...putting you down to deal.
Is it a deal? I gotta go, I got a call.</i>
85
00:12:31,280 --> 00:12:34,248
<i>Don, it's a call with Dick, Dave and Doug.
Got to go, Dave. Disconnecting.</i>
86
00:13:00,040 --> 00:13:01,565
Oh, shit.
87
00:16:44,640 --> 00:16:48,087
Excuse me.
Do you know where the admissions office is?
88
00:16:48,320 --> 00:16:50,368
The door on the left.
89
00:16:54,440 --> 00:16:55,521
Where's the focus?
90
00:16:55,720 --> 00:16:57,961
- Where is it?
- Where is the center?
91
00:16:58,760 --> 00:17:00,683
Look up.
92
00:17:05,760 --> 00:17:07,728
When you fill out...
93
00:17:18,040 --> 00:17:20,168
When you fill out this application...
94
00:17:20,360 --> 00:17:23,648
...be sure and list
all your years of dance education.
95
00:17:24,280 --> 00:17:26,760
Starting with
the most recent place you studied...
96
00:17:26,960 --> 00:17:29,804
...and the number of years
at each institution.
97
00:17:30,600 --> 00:17:33,809
Also, if you have any professional...
98
00:17:34,000 --> 00:17:38,130
...or other repertory experience,
please list those.
99
00:17:45,440 --> 00:17:48,125
She's really strict.
You'll never make it.
100
00:18:02,000 --> 00:18:03,889
When you fill out this application...
101
00:18:04,080 --> 00:18:08,324
...be sure to list
all your years of dance education...
102
00:18:09,000 --> 00:18:13,289
...and the number of years
you spent at each institution.
103
00:18:13,480 --> 00:18:17,246
Also, if you have professional or
other repertory experience...
104
00:18:40,160 --> 00:18:41,400
I gotta go, you guys...
105
00:18:41,640 --> 00:18:43,881
See you, Al.
Don't get dirty.
106
00:19:05,920 --> 00:19:07,843
- Hello, dancer.
- Hi.
107
00:19:08,760 --> 00:19:11,206
- Want a hand?
- No, thanks.
108
00:19:25,400 --> 00:19:31,328
I... have this close personal relationship
with the lady who drives the lunch truck...
109
00:19:31,560 --> 00:19:35,121
...I think I can get her to make us
anything as long as it's on the menu.
110
00:19:35,360 --> 00:19:37,283
- I'm not having lunch.
- How about dinner?
111
00:19:37,720 --> 00:19:42,521
I can't. I don't have dinner with the boss.
Thanks, anyway.
112
00:19:43,760 --> 00:19:46,843
No lunch, no dinner?
How about a snack?
113
00:19:48,760 --> 00:19:49,807
Milk and cookies?
114
00:19:51,400 --> 00:19:52,606
Come on.
115
00:20:11,960 --> 00:20:13,769
I love this dress.
116
00:20:13,960 --> 00:20:16,804
It's exactly like the picture I showed you.
117
00:20:18,600 --> 00:20:20,682
Thanks so much for making it.
118
00:20:20,880 --> 00:20:25,044
Now, more important,
did you go to the repertory?
119
00:20:25,280 --> 00:20:29,046
I meant to. I was gonna go yesterday,
but I didn't have time.
120
00:20:30,080 --> 00:20:32,321
You must make the time, child.
121
00:20:33,000 --> 00:20:34,047
I know.
122
00:20:34,240 --> 00:20:36,971
Remember the first time
you took me to see them dance?
123
00:20:37,160 --> 00:20:38,764
I have dreams about it.
124
00:20:38,960 --> 00:20:40,564
Dreaming is wonderful...
125
00:20:40,800 --> 00:20:43,565
...but it won't get you closer
to what you want.
126
00:20:43,800 --> 00:20:46,929
But I've put money away
so if they take me, I can support myself.
127
00:20:47,360 --> 00:20:53,447
But, child, they won't take you
unless you apply and audition.
128
00:20:53,640 --> 00:20:55,768
I know.
I know, but sometimes...
129
00:20:55,960 --> 00:21:00,648
Alexandra, you are 18 years old.
Do it now.
130
00:21:01,560 --> 00:21:02,800
Do it.
131
00:21:03,240 --> 00:21:05,288
Okay.
Okay.
132
00:21:05,480 --> 00:21:07,369
You are a good girl.
133
00:21:33,520 --> 00:21:35,081
May the Lord be in your heart...
134
00:21:35,240 --> 00:21:37,368
...and in your mind
that you may confess your sins.
135
00:21:37,560 --> 00:21:40,769
In the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
136
00:21:40,960 --> 00:21:45,522
Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
It's been two weeks since my last confession.
137
00:21:46,040 --> 00:21:48,042
I'm doing okay, sort of.
138
00:21:50,080 --> 00:21:52,560
I've been thinking about sex a lot.
139
00:21:52,760 --> 00:21:55,161
But you can't help
thinking about sex, right?
140
00:21:55,360 --> 00:21:58,728
Well, you probably can.
Help it, I mean.
141
00:22:01,080 --> 00:22:03,606
Also, I told a lie.
142
00:22:05,320 --> 00:22:08,290
I had to...
Well, I didn't have to, but...
143
00:22:08,640 --> 00:22:11,041
All I wanted to do was to make her happy.
144
00:22:11,320 --> 00:22:14,005
Hanna was the one
who wanted me to get the application.
145
00:22:14,200 --> 00:22:17,841
I couldn't tell her that I just didn't have
the courage to go through with it.
146
00:22:18,040 --> 00:22:20,262
If you had seen all those dancers,
all those people.
147
00:22:20,287 --> 00:22:21,987
There's no way I belong there.
148
00:22:23,320 --> 00:22:26,210
It's just that I want to make
something out of my life.
149
00:22:26,400 --> 00:22:28,801
I want to do so much, and sometimes...
150
00:22:29,000 --> 00:22:32,163
Sometimes I think
that it's just not gonna happen.
151
00:22:36,640 --> 00:22:38,722
Six beautiful girls, all nude.
152
00:22:38,960 --> 00:22:41,691
Hi, baby. How you doing?
Five dollars. Right this way.
153
00:22:41,920 --> 00:22:44,161
Five dollars. Right here.
All nude, all the time.
154
00:22:44,360 --> 00:22:46,169
All nude, all the time.
That's right.
155
00:22:46,360 --> 00:22:48,609
Cecil, look at you.
Why don't you buy some threads?
156
00:22:48,634 --> 00:22:50,234
I'm running a class act here.
157
00:22:51,000 --> 00:22:54,288
You look like a one-man slum.
All nude, all the time.
158
00:22:54,520 --> 00:22:58,241
Right here. Live, beautiful girls.
Six beautiful girls. Right here, live.
159
00:22:58,480 --> 00:23:00,642
Five dollars.
Right this way.
160
00:23:00,840 --> 00:23:03,844
Five dollars. Live. Nude.
All girls. All the time.
161
00:23:04,200 --> 00:23:07,647
Live. Nude. Right here. Five dollars.
Right through the door.
162
00:23:07,840 --> 00:23:10,491
Straighten yourself up, Cecil.
Drag some customers in.
163
00:23:22,480 --> 00:23:24,847
Well, well, well.
What are these?
164
00:23:25,040 --> 00:23:27,725
They're very cute.
They're very, very cute.
165
00:23:27,920 --> 00:23:32,130
Alex. Alex, come on.
Give them back. They're Richie's.
166
00:23:32,480 --> 00:23:34,767
My dad's breathing down
my neck about him.
167
00:23:35,000 --> 00:23:38,209
He says Richie's no good and that if he ain't
asked me to marry him by now...
168
00:23:38,400 --> 00:23:39,800
...he ain't gonna.
169
00:23:39,840 --> 00:23:40,887
No kidding.
170
00:23:47,080 --> 00:23:49,811
Did it take very long
to learn how to dance that way?
171
00:23:50,000 --> 00:23:51,889
About 25 years.
172
00:23:53,360 --> 00:23:54,566
Will you teach me how?
173
00:23:54,760 --> 00:23:57,843
- Yeah, if you teach me how to skate.
- Yeah.
174
00:24:00,960 --> 00:24:02,724
Good evening, ladies.
175
00:24:03,720 --> 00:24:07,805
Look at that. $21,321.
All leather, push button.
176
00:24:08,000 --> 00:24:09,764
Wanna go for a ride?
177
00:24:10,080 --> 00:24:12,686
Hey, Jeanie, you still porking that cook?
178
00:24:13,360 --> 00:24:16,284
Listen. Come see my club.
I just put this new PA system in...
179
00:24:16,560 --> 00:24:19,689
...and the floor, it's all lit up,
right where you're gonna dance.
180
00:24:19,880 --> 00:24:22,247
I want you to see
what you're gonna call home.
181
00:24:23,280 --> 00:24:27,171
Did you know that the smallest penis
ever measured was 1.1 inches?
182
00:24:27,400 --> 00:24:29,243
You are some pair of cunts.
You know that?
183
00:24:36,880 --> 00:24:39,360
I can't believe I'm working out
with this hangover.
184
00:24:39,560 --> 00:24:41,767
Wait, wait, wait.
I have lost my keys.
185
00:24:42,240 --> 00:24:43,287
Oh, shit.
186
00:24:44,760 --> 00:24:45,966
What a jerk.
187
00:24:46,160 --> 00:24:47,844
Come on.
Let's go work out.
188
00:25:13,760 --> 00:25:15,330
He didn't call.
189
00:25:15,920 --> 00:25:17,365
He'll call.
190
00:25:18,440 --> 00:25:20,363
I don't think so, Alex.
191
00:25:21,000 --> 00:25:23,002
He'll call, Tina.
192
00:25:24,360 --> 00:25:25,725
I don't know.
193
00:25:26,160 --> 00:25:30,131
Look, just call the man.
Say, "Hey, baby, what's happening?"
194
00:25:30,320 --> 00:25:33,244
The way you're going on,
your whole life's gonna be over...
195
00:25:33,440 --> 00:25:35,044
...before you make up your mind.
196
00:25:35,240 --> 00:25:37,846
Just get up and call the dude.
197
00:25:38,040 --> 00:25:40,407
Yeah?
You really think so?
198
00:25:40,640 --> 00:25:42,722
God, I'm glad I ain't no honky.
199
00:28:08,680 --> 00:28:12,571
You girls eat like pigs.
What happened to the diet?
200
00:28:13,200 --> 00:28:15,089
I didn't eat anything yesterday.
201
00:28:15,280 --> 00:28:17,931
We're gonna go over
to the rink and work it off.
202
00:28:18,120 --> 00:28:19,963
Richie gonna be there?
203
00:28:20,200 --> 00:28:22,123
Now, there's a real winner.
204
00:28:22,880 --> 00:28:24,803
No.
We're gonna work.
205
00:28:26,200 --> 00:28:28,043
She thinks she's gonna be
on the ice show.
206
00:28:28,240 --> 00:28:30,441
What's wrong with that?
I'd make a lot of money.
207
00:28:30,560 --> 00:28:32,881
You're costing me a lot of money.
208
00:28:33,400 --> 00:28:35,607
I'd just like to try it again, Daddy.
209
00:28:36,440 --> 00:28:38,010
She's good.
You ought to see her.
210
00:28:38,200 --> 00:28:41,682
- Yeah, she's gonna fall on her ass.
- She's got a tough ass.
211
00:28:41,880 --> 00:28:43,803
Yeah, I got a tough ass.
212
00:28:44,560 --> 00:28:46,961
It's not her ass I'm worried about.
213
00:28:52,160 --> 00:28:54,766
Jean, where are you?
Wait. Come here.
214
00:29:00,280 --> 00:29:01,566
Okay, go.
215
00:29:03,320 --> 00:29:04,651
No, don't.
216
00:29:08,360 --> 00:29:11,125
You're gonna do great.
Don't stop.
217
00:29:13,280 --> 00:29:15,282
Do it again.
Do it again.
218
00:29:15,560 --> 00:29:17,483
Oh, shit, I can't do this.
219
00:29:19,520 --> 00:29:22,967
No, go do your turn.
Go do your turn.
220
00:29:23,520 --> 00:29:25,761
Another triple Lutz.
221
00:29:32,200 --> 00:29:33,247
Ta-da!
222
00:29:33,680 --> 00:29:37,082
Hi, I'm Richie Blazik.
Hi, I'm Richie Blazik.
223
00:29:37,280 --> 00:29:39,248
Hear the one
about the Polack bank robber?
224
00:29:39,440 --> 00:29:41,488
He tied up the safe and blew the guard.
225
00:29:41,680 --> 00:29:45,605
Tied up the safe, blew the guard.
Tied up the safe and blew the guard.
226
00:29:45,840 --> 00:29:47,524
Hey, kid, come here.
227
00:29:48,480 --> 00:29:49,686
Come here.
228
00:29:52,920 --> 00:29:55,764
- What's the matter?
- I'm nervous, Jake.
229
00:29:59,840 --> 00:30:02,286
Now you ain't nervous anymore.
230
00:30:02,640 --> 00:30:03,926
Now you're pissed off.
231
00:30:06,320 --> 00:30:07,924
Good luck, baby.
232
00:30:46,200 --> 00:30:47,850
Hi.
How you doing?
233
00:30:48,200 --> 00:30:49,850
I'm Richie Blazik.
234
00:30:58,160 --> 00:31:01,401
Did you hear about the Polack bank robber?
He tied up the safe and blew the guard.
235
00:31:06,080 --> 00:31:09,050
So the lady says to the waiter:
236
00:31:09,240 --> 00:31:12,084
"Excuse me, sir.
Do you have frogs' legs?"
237
00:31:12,280 --> 00:31:15,602
And the waiter says,
"No, that's just the way I walk."
238
00:31:23,480 --> 00:31:25,847
Wanna talk about boogers?
I know a lot about them.
239
00:31:25,872 --> 00:31:27,672
Boogers?
Sports for 50?
240
00:31:30,800 --> 00:31:33,326
What's a pimple on a Polack's ass?
241
00:31:33,960 --> 00:31:35,485
A brain tumor.
242
00:31:38,480 --> 00:31:42,087
Hey, take a walk.
Bring on the bimbos.
243
00:31:43,040 --> 00:31:45,725
Hey, come on, guys.
Could you give me a break?
244
00:31:45,960 --> 00:31:49,043
Look, I'm just a cook. Okay.
I'm just a cook. All right?
245
00:31:49,840 --> 00:31:53,162
And this is my big chance.
So if you screw it up for me...
246
00:31:53,400 --> 00:31:56,847
...I'm gonna put cockroaches
in your hamburgers. You got it?
247
00:31:58,720 --> 00:32:01,564
Well, miracles do happen, I guess.
248
00:32:01,760 --> 00:32:05,242
I guess it took the Steelers
40 years to win a championship, didn't it?
249
00:32:05,600 --> 00:32:07,841
Steelers.
Yes.
250
00:32:12,040 --> 00:32:13,284
I tell you.
251
00:32:13,309 --> 00:32:16,309
You know, I feel like Franco Harris
when he made the Immaculate Reception.
252
00:32:16,480 --> 00:32:18,209
It was amazing.
253
00:32:19,400 --> 00:32:22,609
Hey, did you hear about the Polack
who locked his keys in the car...
254
00:32:22,800 --> 00:32:25,963
...and he had to use a coat hanger
to get his family out?
255
00:32:26,920 --> 00:32:27,967
Amazing.
256
00:32:28,400 --> 00:32:32,724
Did you hear about the Polack who died
drinking milk? The cow fell on him.
257
00:32:35,440 --> 00:32:37,647
You know, there was a Polish terrorist.
258
00:32:37,840 --> 00:32:42,004
You know, they sent him to blow up a car,
and he burned his lips on the exhaust pipe.
259
00:32:43,480 --> 00:32:45,084
All right.
All right.
260
00:32:49,360 --> 00:32:52,844
You guys have been real nice
and I gotta go cook the hamburgers.
261
00:32:52,869 --> 00:32:54,469
No roaches, I promise.
262
00:32:56,640 --> 00:32:59,041
So let me bring out our next act.
263
00:32:59,240 --> 00:33:02,369
Direct from Mawby's,
it's Tina Tech, ladies and gentlemen.
264
00:33:14,080 --> 00:33:16,765
One, two, three, four.
265
00:35:13,800 --> 00:35:15,643
Alex, sit down here a moment, will you?
266
00:35:15,880 --> 00:35:18,360
Cecil, this is a nice ass.
267
00:35:18,560 --> 00:35:20,369
Soft.
268
00:35:20,560 --> 00:35:24,770
Round. Snug.
She likes it.
269
00:35:26,960 --> 00:35:31,249
Hey. Bimbo.
Whore.
270
00:35:35,160 --> 00:35:37,003
Fuck off.
271
00:35:55,920 --> 00:35:57,490
- Night, kids.
- Good night.
272
00:35:57,680 --> 00:35:59,284
Good night, Jake.
273
00:35:59,560 --> 00:36:02,564
Hey, Richie, no more jokes
about cockroaches?
274
00:36:22,560 --> 00:36:24,841
One of these days
I wanna be like, you know...
275
00:36:25,000 --> 00:36:28,049
...Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy,
Steve Martin. Until that day...
276
00:36:28,240 --> 00:36:30,242
You'll just keep stealing all their material.
277
00:36:32,800 --> 00:36:33,881
Hey, Alex.
278
00:36:34,080 --> 00:36:35,401
- Let me go.
- What are you doing?
279
00:36:35,440 --> 00:36:37,490
- Nothing to fight about.
- Get your hands off me.
280
00:36:37,580 --> 00:36:39,847
- We're gonna go to Cecil's.
- Let me go, goddamn it.
281
00:36:39,880 --> 00:36:44,090
Drink a little wine, do a little weed.
You and me. How about Cecil?
282
00:36:44,280 --> 00:36:46,362
- Fucker.
- You like Cecil?
283
00:36:46,600 --> 00:36:48,887
- Get off of me.
- All three of us, real friendly.
284
00:36:49,080 --> 00:36:51,003
Why don't you leave her the fuck alone?
285
00:36:51,200 --> 00:36:53,248
The comedian's gonna be a hero.
286
00:36:53,480 --> 00:36:54,845
Son of a bitch.
287
00:36:55,040 --> 00:36:57,850
Oh, shit.
288
00:36:58,040 --> 00:37:00,725
Cecil, what the fuck's wrong with you?
289
00:37:01,360 --> 00:37:03,010
Let her go, John.
290
00:37:04,960 --> 00:37:07,406
Hey, what are you doing here, Nick?
Slumming?
291
00:37:07,600 --> 00:37:10,206
This ain't your neighborhood no more.
292
00:37:16,040 --> 00:37:18,930
I didn't mean nothing.
I just got pissed off.
293
00:37:19,120 --> 00:37:20,451
You okay?
294
00:37:21,160 --> 00:37:23,686
- Send me your bill, kid.
- Let me see.
295
00:37:23,880 --> 00:37:25,848
- Is it bleeding? Oh, Jesus.
- Yeah.
296
00:37:26,040 --> 00:37:27,644
Here.
Come on.
297
00:37:29,720 --> 00:37:31,324
Here's your hat.
298
00:37:32,520 --> 00:37:34,568
- Are you okay?
- It's fine.
299
00:37:34,760 --> 00:37:35,841
- Yeah.
- You sure?
300
00:37:36,040 --> 00:37:39,089
Yeah, I'm okay.
It's gonna look good on stage.
301
00:37:42,560 --> 00:37:44,210
- It's gonna be fine.
- You sure?
302
00:37:48,720 --> 00:37:51,849
- You sure you're gonna be okay?
- Yeah, I'm fine.
303
00:37:57,120 --> 00:38:00,567
Listen, what can I say?
Thanks a lot.
304
00:38:01,360 --> 00:38:03,408
I'll give you a lift home.
305
00:38:04,880 --> 00:38:08,407
It's okay. I've got a ride.
Thanks, anyway.
306
00:38:45,600 --> 00:38:47,887
- What's his name?
- Grunt.
307
00:38:48,400 --> 00:38:50,164
- Grunt?
- Yeah.
308
00:38:52,320 --> 00:38:54,243
I can see
I don't have to worry about you.
309
00:38:54,440 --> 00:38:56,522
What was he before he became a dog?
310
00:38:56,720 --> 00:39:00,566
Well, he gets upset when people
he doesn't know follow me home.
311
00:39:00,960 --> 00:39:03,201
Come on, Grunt.
This is the man that feeds you.
312
00:39:03,440 --> 00:39:04,930
Tell you what.
313
00:39:06,920 --> 00:39:09,685
Tell him I'll bring him a doggy bag
if you'll have dinner.
314
00:39:09,880 --> 00:39:13,771
Nick, I told you, I don't think
it's a good idea to go out with the boss.
315
00:39:15,720 --> 00:39:17,688
Okay.
Have it your way.
316
00:39:18,440 --> 00:39:21,569
You're fired.
I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8:00.
317
00:39:43,240 --> 00:39:45,527
How long does this thing last?
318
00:39:49,120 --> 00:39:51,248
It's cold in here.
319
00:39:52,400 --> 00:39:53,925
How's the nose?
320
00:39:54,160 --> 00:39:55,571
It's broken.
321
00:39:56,560 --> 00:39:58,608
I broke mine three times.
322
00:39:59,120 --> 00:40:02,408
That was big in the '50s,
wasn't it, busting noses?
323
00:40:03,880 --> 00:40:05,848
'60s.
324
00:40:45,600 --> 00:40:47,011
You think she can beat her?
325
00:40:49,920 --> 00:40:53,163
- Miss Szabo.
- You're gonna do great.
326
00:41:23,560 --> 00:41:25,722
- Go, Jeanie. Come on.
- Go, Jeanie.
327
00:41:26,640 --> 00:41:28,881
Come on.
328
00:41:42,400 --> 00:41:44,084
Look at that one.
329
00:41:51,160 --> 00:41:52,924
There you were 20 years ago, sweetheart.
330
00:41:58,480 --> 00:42:00,926
All right. There we go.
Come on, come on.
331
00:42:14,600 --> 00:42:16,011
Come on, Jeanie.
332
00:42:51,920 --> 00:42:53,001
Come on.
333
00:42:59,080 --> 00:43:00,491
Get up, Jeanie.
334
00:43:27,800 --> 00:43:29,529
It's gonna be okay.
335
00:43:30,120 --> 00:43:34,045
All that time and practice.
A waste.
336
00:43:34,840 --> 00:43:39,562
- It was a goddamn waste of time.
- Come on. It was not. It wasn't.
337
00:43:40,840 --> 00:43:43,161
You went out there, didn't you?
338
00:43:45,760 --> 00:43:47,808
At least you had the guts to try.
339
00:43:48,320 --> 00:43:50,243
How you doing, sport?
340
00:43:58,280 --> 00:44:00,442
I'm sorry, Daddy.
341
00:44:02,640 --> 00:44:06,770
I love you more than I've ever loved
anything in my whole life.
342
00:44:09,280 --> 00:44:11,806
What the hell?
You bounce pretty good.
343
00:44:26,280 --> 00:44:28,282
She practiced for two years.
344
00:44:28,520 --> 00:44:30,045
She'll do better next time.
345
00:44:30,240 --> 00:44:32,447
There won't be any next time.
346
00:44:42,680 --> 00:44:44,045
Thank you.
347
00:44:46,320 --> 00:44:50,564
What do you feel like?
Fish? Chicken? Steak?
348
00:44:51,520 --> 00:44:53,887
- I know this terrific little...
- Pizza.
349
00:44:54,080 --> 00:44:56,924
Pizza place.
350
00:45:01,880 --> 00:45:03,120
Jesus.
351
00:45:04,000 --> 00:45:07,209
You live here?
You really live here?
352
00:45:07,400 --> 00:45:11,325
Yeah. It used to be a warehouse
before I moved in.
353
00:45:13,040 --> 00:45:15,486
It's different.
Very different.
354
00:45:16,120 --> 00:45:18,566
It's a whole lot different
than where I'm from.
355
00:45:18,760 --> 00:45:20,125
Where's that?
356
00:45:21,400 --> 00:45:23,323
Altoona, Pennsylvania.
357
00:45:24,000 --> 00:45:25,411
Altoona?
358
00:45:26,360 --> 00:45:29,569
I was thinking more
along the lines of Jupiter.
359
00:45:41,360 --> 00:45:45,968
Actually, they're very close.
It's just the next lifeless planet over.
360
00:45:47,680 --> 00:45:50,047
Really, it was pretty boring...
361
00:45:50,240 --> 00:45:52,527
...except for maybe music.
362
00:45:52,720 --> 00:45:54,290
They have music in Altoona?
363
00:45:54,560 --> 00:45:57,040
Well, my father, he loves music.
364
00:45:58,160 --> 00:46:02,609
This one time, he took us all
to the symphony, my whole family.
365
00:46:02,960 --> 00:46:05,725
It was supposed to be
this really big deal.
366
00:46:05,920 --> 00:46:10,130
At first, I didn't like it much.
There's nothing to do with your feet...
367
00:46:10,360 --> 00:46:12,840
...and there's nothing really to look at.
368
00:46:14,400 --> 00:46:18,689
It's boring.
And I was ready to nod out or something.
369
00:46:20,240 --> 00:46:21,685
He said to me:
370
00:46:22,440 --> 00:46:26,490
"if you close your eyes,
you can see the music."
371
00:46:27,920 --> 00:46:30,048
You can, too.
372
00:46:31,400 --> 00:46:33,164
Did you ever try?
373
00:46:34,160 --> 00:46:35,605
See the music?
374
00:46:37,480 --> 00:46:39,403
Come on.
Try.
375
00:46:41,640 --> 00:46:43,563
Close your eyes.
376
00:46:50,160 --> 00:46:51,730
Well?
377
00:46:55,880 --> 00:46:57,803
Well...
378
00:47:00,480 --> 00:47:02,448
I had a great time.
379
00:47:02,840 --> 00:47:05,764
It was a terrific evening.
380
00:47:07,560 --> 00:47:09,722
Don't you want some pizza?
381
00:48:07,360 --> 00:48:10,011
Hey, a little late, aren't you?
382
00:49:20,000 --> 00:49:21,729
What was that for?
383
00:49:21,920 --> 00:49:24,730
Just wanted to see
how fast you could run.
384
00:49:26,200 --> 00:49:28,771
- How'd I do?
- Fair.
385
00:49:58,200 --> 00:50:00,328
- Do that again.
- What?
386
00:50:01,640 --> 00:50:03,483
That dance step you just did.
387
00:50:03,760 --> 00:50:06,240
I can't.
I was just fooling around.
388
00:50:07,240 --> 00:50:10,005
- I'm not a dancer like that.
- What do you mean?
389
00:50:10,760 --> 00:50:12,444
I never studied before.
390
00:50:13,080 --> 00:50:16,004
I mean, I read books and stuff,
and I watch...
391
00:50:16,240 --> 00:50:18,720
...but I've never taken dance classes.
392
00:50:19,600 --> 00:50:21,602
I don't know.
There's all those dancers...
393
00:50:21,800 --> 00:50:24,963
...in one room watching each other
and watching you.
394
00:50:25,480 --> 00:50:27,926
But you dance in front of an audience
at the club.
395
00:50:28,120 --> 00:50:30,248
I know. But it's different.
I never see them.
396
00:50:30,440 --> 00:50:33,569
It's like you go out there...
397
00:50:34,600 --> 00:50:37,729
...and the music starts,
and you begin to feel it.
398
00:50:39,240 --> 00:50:41,846
And your body just starts to move.
399
00:50:43,680 --> 00:50:46,081
I know it sounds really silly...
400
00:50:47,040 --> 00:50:49,520
...but something inside of you just clicks.
401
00:50:50,640 --> 00:50:55,407
And you just take off and you're gone.
It's like you're somebody else for a second.
402
00:50:59,720 --> 00:51:01,643
Some nights, I...
403
00:51:06,280 --> 00:51:09,648
Some nights I just can't wait
to get out there.
404
00:51:11,080 --> 00:51:13,128
Just so I can disappear.
405
00:53:43,560 --> 00:53:46,404
How come you don't go up there and dance?
406
00:53:46,600 --> 00:53:48,602
You look like you could dance real good.
407
00:53:48,800 --> 00:53:50,404
I'm practicing.
408
00:53:50,600 --> 00:53:54,127
Yeah?
You know how to do the horizontal mambo?
409
00:53:57,000 --> 00:54:01,130
Hey, Jeanie, I just kid around.
I don't mean nothing. Keep that.
410
00:54:02,360 --> 00:54:07,651
- That's 100 bucks. I can't take this.
- Keep it. It's my way of saying I'm sorry.
411
00:54:08,640 --> 00:54:11,769
<i>You've got to walk right through the fire</i>
412
00:54:11,920 --> 00:54:13,160
Thanks.
413
00:55:27,400 --> 00:55:28,481
Hanna.
414
00:55:28,960 --> 00:55:30,325
Hanna.
415
00:55:30,800 --> 00:55:32,768
Darling, here you are.
416
00:56:20,880 --> 00:56:23,087
Bravo.
Bravo.
417
00:56:23,280 --> 00:56:24,520
Bravo.
418
00:56:42,360 --> 00:56:45,728
At the end of every performance,
does the lead dancer always get flowers?
419
00:56:45,960 --> 00:56:47,007
Always.
420
00:56:47,200 --> 00:56:49,328
Did you get flowers like that?
421
00:56:49,520 --> 00:56:52,490
- Not always.
- But once, right? At least once?
422
00:56:52,720 --> 00:56:55,087
- Yeah.
- How does that make you feel?
423
00:56:55,280 --> 00:56:58,284
You will let me know?
424
00:56:58,520 --> 00:57:00,648
Here is a taxi.
425
00:57:02,000 --> 00:57:04,526
Now, sleep well.
426
00:57:04,960 --> 00:57:06,849
You, too.
427
00:57:58,400 --> 00:58:00,562
You son of a bitch.
428
00:58:49,160 --> 00:58:51,731
Was that you or the radiator, Grunt?
429
00:58:52,280 --> 00:58:54,806
Oh, shit.
430
00:59:02,640 --> 00:59:04,130
Shut up, Grunt.
431
00:59:04,800 --> 00:59:06,450
Hey, it's Richie.
432
00:59:06,640 --> 00:59:07,721
Hi.
433
00:59:08,120 --> 00:59:10,088
Stupid radiator broke.
434
00:59:10,640 --> 00:59:12,688
Just wanted to say goodbye.
435
00:59:12,920 --> 00:59:14,968
- Where are you going?
- L.A.
436
00:59:15,680 --> 00:59:17,125
L.A.?
437
00:59:17,360 --> 00:59:19,044
Yeah, I got my car all packed.
438
00:59:19,280 --> 00:59:22,170
I'm just gonna get on the turnpike.
That's it. I'm gone.
439
00:59:22,360 --> 00:59:23,805
What about Jeanie?
440
00:59:24,040 --> 00:59:28,090
Look, I love Jeanie. But I just
don't have it to give to her right now.
441
00:59:28,280 --> 00:59:30,521
She's gonna be all right.
She'll be fine.
442
00:59:30,720 --> 00:59:33,564
Don't go yet. I'll make some coffee.
We can sit and talk.
443
00:59:33,800 --> 00:59:36,007
I can't.
I mean, what am I gonna do here?
444
00:59:36,200 --> 00:59:39,010
Cook hamburgers
and pretend I'm a comedian?
445
00:59:41,400 --> 00:59:43,129
I'll miss you.
446
00:59:55,200 --> 00:59:57,487
- Can't forget my hat.
- Right.
447
00:59:58,800 --> 01:00:00,211
Good luck.
448
01:00:32,920 --> 01:00:35,685
Give me a turkey sandwich and a Diet 7Up.
449
01:00:38,640 --> 01:00:39,687
I've got that, Trudy.
450
01:00:39,880 --> 01:00:40,927
Save your money.
451
01:00:41,160 --> 01:00:43,449
- Buying you lunch.
- I don't want you buying me anything.
452
01:00:43,480 --> 01:00:45,726
I don't want you buying me, period.
453
01:00:46,560 --> 01:00:48,881
- What's the matter?
- Come on. I've got eyes.
454
01:00:49,120 --> 01:00:50,360
What are you talking about?
455
01:00:50,560 --> 01:00:54,770
I didn't know you were such a ballet fan.
I thought you just liked it in private.
456
01:00:55,160 --> 01:00:56,844
How quickly they forget.
457
01:00:57,040 --> 01:01:01,602
At the dance benefit, the blonde in the
white dress? Who's the goddamn blonde?
458
01:01:01,840 --> 01:01:03,080
Blonde?
459
01:01:04,400 --> 01:01:05,731
Blonde?
460
01:01:06,240 --> 01:01:09,084
Hey, wait a minute.
Will you wait a minute?
461
01:01:10,560 --> 01:01:12,767
Will you please wait a minute?
462
01:01:13,600 --> 01:01:15,523
What's going on?
Has everybody gone crazy?
463
01:01:15,720 --> 01:01:18,121
Last night some idiot throws a rock
through my window...
464
01:01:18,360 --> 01:01:20,442
I broke your fucking window.
465
01:01:20,640 --> 01:01:21,687
You what?
466
01:01:22,040 --> 01:01:25,169
You heard me.
I smashed your stupid window.
467
01:01:25,920 --> 01:01:29,288
Are you crazy?
Are you out of your goddamn mind?
468
01:01:29,480 --> 01:01:30,811
Maybe.
469
01:01:31,040 --> 01:01:33,520
It cost me $170.
I had to special order it.
470
01:01:33,720 --> 01:01:36,041
You've got the goddamn money.
Go fuck the blonde.
471
01:01:36,400 --> 01:01:39,324
She's my ex-wife.
We have friends on the arts council.
472
01:01:39,520 --> 01:01:43,366
I see her once a goddamn year
to take her to this stupid benefit.
473
01:01:43,560 --> 01:01:45,642
Why am I explaining myself?
474
01:01:48,960 --> 01:01:51,486
You didn't have to break my window.
475
01:01:52,760 --> 01:01:55,730
I did it because you pissed me off.
476
01:02:24,320 --> 01:02:25,367
When I was a kid...
477
01:02:25,560 --> 01:02:28,484
...all I wanted was to be able to afford to eat
in restaurants like this.
478
01:02:28,760 --> 01:02:29,807
Were you poor?
479
01:02:30,000 --> 01:02:32,844
Poor?
I was so poor, I had hand-me-down lunches.
480
01:02:33,240 --> 01:02:35,641
It was rough in the old days.
481
01:02:36,680 --> 01:02:39,604
I used to steal hubcaps with Johnny C.
482
01:02:40,800 --> 01:02:42,131
You did?
483
01:02:50,960 --> 01:02:52,883
How's the lobster?
484
01:03:00,440 --> 01:03:01,805
It sucks.
485
01:03:06,200 --> 01:03:08,726
Want some of mine?
486
01:03:09,320 --> 01:03:11,368
I'm not hungry, thanks.
487
01:03:14,040 --> 01:03:15,929
Whatever turns you on.
488
01:03:17,880 --> 01:03:19,644
What turns you on?
489
01:03:37,360 --> 01:03:39,169
You like phone booths?
490
01:03:40,920 --> 01:03:42,365
Phone booths?
491
01:03:43,560 --> 01:03:46,564
You probably just like
doing it in bed, right?
492
01:03:53,000 --> 01:03:54,729
You two look cozy.
493
01:03:55,240 --> 01:03:56,571
Alex, this is Katie.
494
01:03:56,760 --> 01:03:59,366
Hello.
Nicky's told me all about you.
495
01:03:59,960 --> 01:04:01,371
Hi.
496
01:04:02,480 --> 01:04:04,562
You're not really a welder, are you?
497
01:04:04,800 --> 01:04:06,484
Yes, I really am.
498
01:04:07,320 --> 01:04:10,642
And you really take your clothes off
at night?
499
01:04:11,160 --> 01:04:13,401
Well, I don't really take them off.
500
01:04:13,800 --> 01:04:16,041
I was under the impression you did.
501
01:04:16,240 --> 01:04:19,323
You look great. You didn't look
this good when we were married.
502
01:04:19,520 --> 01:04:22,524
- It's probably the company I was keeping.
- That was good.
503
01:04:22,720 --> 01:04:24,927
Funny.
Has he taken you to the steel mill?
504
01:04:25,120 --> 01:04:27,521
- That's enough.
- He likes to go there on his first date.
505
01:04:27,760 --> 01:04:29,524
It was your first date, wasn't it?
506
01:04:29,760 --> 01:04:31,205
Yeah, it was.
507
01:04:31,400 --> 01:04:33,448
As a matter of fact...
508
01:04:34,960 --> 01:04:37,691
...I fucked his brains out.
509
01:04:43,840 --> 01:04:45,729
Obviously you did.
510
01:04:46,400 --> 01:04:47,890
Charmed, dear.
511
01:04:50,480 --> 01:04:53,245
You loved her once, didn't you?
512
01:04:54,960 --> 01:04:57,691
I thought I did in the beginning.
513
01:04:58,480 --> 01:05:00,562
She was different from anyone
I'd gone out with.
514
01:05:00,760 --> 01:05:05,846
She was well-educated,
came from a real good family.
515
01:05:08,400 --> 01:05:11,006
I'd figured that I'd really made it.
516
01:05:12,320 --> 01:05:15,767
And then one day I realized that...
517
01:05:18,840 --> 01:05:21,446
...I'd just taken the safe route.
518
01:05:23,680 --> 01:05:27,844
When I realized that, somehow it made it
easier for me to do what I had to do.
519
01:05:28,720 --> 01:05:30,290
What was that?
520
01:05:31,560 --> 01:05:34,689
Let go.
Start over again.
521
01:05:35,960 --> 01:05:39,851
Figure out what it was
that I wanted to do and go after it.
522
01:05:41,320 --> 01:05:44,483
You got it, didn't you?
523
01:05:52,000 --> 01:05:53,889
How did you do it?
524
01:05:55,880 --> 01:05:58,451
I took a deep breath and jumped.
525
01:06:04,560 --> 01:06:05,891
Hello.
526
01:06:06,120 --> 01:06:08,726
I'd like to apply for admission
to the repertory company.
527
01:06:08,920 --> 01:06:12,447
When you fill out this application,
be sure and write down...
528
01:06:12,640 --> 01:06:17,123
...all your years of previous dance training,
starting with the last school you attended.
529
01:06:17,320 --> 01:06:18,924
I know that part.
530
01:06:19,600 --> 01:06:21,807
Auditions are by invitation only...
531
01:06:22,040 --> 01:06:24,168
...and are performed
before the committee...
532
01:06:24,360 --> 01:06:27,250
...and select members
of the repertory company.
533
01:06:27,760 --> 01:06:29,171
Thank you.
534
01:06:29,520 --> 01:06:31,329
You're welcome.
535
01:06:54,680 --> 01:06:56,364
Good morning.
536
01:07:03,760 --> 01:07:06,684
Good morning.
May I help you?
537
01:07:07,680 --> 01:07:10,365
Yes. There was a young woman
in here a short time ago...
538
01:07:10,560 --> 01:07:12,369
...who was wearing an army jacket.
539
01:07:12,560 --> 01:07:14,961
She was here.
I was talking to her...
540
01:07:15,160 --> 01:07:17,162
...about admission
to the repertory company.
541
01:07:19,320 --> 01:07:20,765
Good morning.
542
01:07:28,200 --> 01:07:30,965
Mr. Bradley?
Nick Hurley.
543
01:07:33,480 --> 01:07:35,642
Lar, hey.
544
01:07:38,040 --> 01:07:39,963
Great.
Great.
545
01:07:40,480 --> 01:07:43,370
Listen, are you still on the arts council?
546
01:07:44,320 --> 01:07:46,482
I need a favor for a special friend.
547
01:08:42,040 --> 01:08:43,610
He called.
548
01:08:56,880 --> 01:08:59,486
Trick or treat.
549
01:08:59,640 --> 01:09:01,961
Hey, throw that bum out.
550
01:09:02,200 --> 01:09:04,726
I told you they didn't like
short people down there.
551
01:09:05,080 --> 01:09:06,286
Richie.
552
01:09:07,840 --> 01:09:09,126
Richie.
553
01:09:12,440 --> 01:09:15,410
- So did you check out the clubs out there?
- Oh, yeah.
554
01:09:16,280 --> 01:09:19,170
- Well, come on. What happened?
- One of them offered me a job.
555
01:09:20,080 --> 01:09:21,605
Really?
That's great.
556
01:09:21,840 --> 01:09:24,571
As a waiter. I said, "Me? A waiter?
You've gotta be crazy.
557
01:09:24,800 --> 01:09:27,007
I can't take a job as any waiter.
I'm a cook."
558
01:09:31,600 --> 01:09:33,602
Hi, Richie.
559
01:09:36,040 --> 01:09:37,769
Hi, Jeanie.
560
01:09:39,880 --> 01:09:41,609
I missed you.
561
01:09:42,000 --> 01:09:43,604
With all those girls out there?
562
01:09:43,800 --> 01:09:45,882
Come on.
There are no girls out there.
563
01:09:46,120 --> 01:09:48,646
That's why you called me every night.
564
01:09:49,480 --> 01:09:51,528
Hey, it's the cook.
565
01:09:52,000 --> 01:09:55,049
Or is it the comedian?
Hey, nice suit, Richie.
566
01:09:56,520 --> 01:09:59,603
- Let's go, Jeanie.
- See you later, Richie.
567
01:10:00,440 --> 01:10:02,488
See you around, Izod.
568
01:11:14,600 --> 01:11:18,605
Look, you guys, look.
Look, you guys. I got it. I got it.
569
01:11:18,800 --> 01:11:23,840
I got it, Nick. Nick, wait up.
Wait. Nick. Wait, wait, wait.
570
01:11:25,240 --> 01:11:27,288
Look, look.
Look. Wait.
571
01:11:27,480 --> 01:11:29,164
- What's going on?
- Just read it.
572
01:11:29,360 --> 01:11:31,761
- What?
- I got the audition. See? Look.
573
01:11:32,040 --> 01:11:35,647
I applied to the repertory. You have
to be invited before you can audition.
574
01:11:35,840 --> 01:11:37,888
They invited me.
Isn't that great?
575
01:11:38,200 --> 01:11:41,488
That's wonderful. We're gonna have
to do something about this.
576
01:11:41,680 --> 01:11:43,330
- When?
- How about tonight?
577
01:11:43,520 --> 01:11:44,681
Okay.
578
01:11:51,720 --> 01:11:53,085
Hanna?
579
01:11:53,280 --> 01:11:54,850
Hanna?
580
01:11:57,080 --> 01:11:58,320
Well.
581
01:11:59,040 --> 01:12:00,565
I did it.
582
01:12:00,760 --> 01:12:02,330
I knew you would.
583
01:12:03,400 --> 01:12:04,890
Congratulations.
584
01:12:05,080 --> 01:12:07,606
I'm so excited, I can't stop shaking.
585
01:12:08,560 --> 01:12:10,688
But what if I don't make it?
586
01:12:13,480 --> 01:12:15,767
You will.
I know you will.
587
01:12:17,680 --> 01:12:20,490
Hanna, what would I do without you?
588
01:12:25,280 --> 01:12:29,683
I loved the dinner,
and I loved the way they sat us right away.
589
01:12:31,240 --> 01:12:35,564
I loved the way there were 50 people
waiting and we just whizzed in.
590
01:12:37,920 --> 01:12:40,400
I called the restaurant last night...
591
01:12:41,360 --> 01:12:44,489
...and I told them
it was a very special occasion.
592
01:12:51,200 --> 01:12:53,726
What do you mean,
you called them last night?
593
01:12:53,920 --> 01:12:55,684
- Stop the car.
- What?
594
01:12:55,920 --> 01:12:59,003
Stop the goddamn car. Come on.
You called them last night...
595
01:12:59,200 --> 01:13:01,702
...but I didn't tell you
I got the audition till this morning.
596
01:13:01,740 --> 01:13:05,247
- Great. So how the hell did you know?
- Alex, listen.
597
01:13:05,320 --> 01:13:08,767
Friends on the committee, Nick?
Asshole. Stop the car.
598
01:13:08,960 --> 01:13:11,042
- Alex. Alex.
- Let me go.
599
01:13:19,600 --> 01:13:22,285
You have no right to help me.
I don't want you to help me.
600
01:13:22,480 --> 01:13:24,767
Are you out of your mind?
You're gonna get killed.
601
01:13:25,000 --> 01:13:27,241
All I did was make a phone call.
One phone call.
602
01:13:27,440 --> 01:13:30,410
I got you the audition.
The rest is up to you.
603
01:13:32,320 --> 01:13:34,049
The whole thing has to be up to me.
604
01:13:34,360 --> 01:13:37,125
I'm not going to the stupid audition.
605
01:14:06,640 --> 01:14:08,244
<i>Good evening. Mawby's.</i>
606
01:14:08,440 --> 01:14:09,885
Is Jeanie there?
607
01:14:10,080 --> 01:14:11,809
<i>Alex, where the hell
have you been all week?</i>
608
01:14:12,000 --> 01:14:15,686
Come on, Jake.
I don't want to hear it. Is she there?
609
01:14:15,880 --> 01:14:19,566
<i>Alex, she doesn't work for me anymore.
She's over at the Zanzibar.</i>
610
01:14:19,760 --> 01:14:21,967
- What?
- You heard me.
611
01:15:45,080 --> 01:15:46,206
Come on, Jeanie.
612
01:15:48,040 --> 01:15:49,804
We're getting out of here.
613
01:15:50,000 --> 01:15:51,764
Stop it.
Get off of me.
614
01:15:51,960 --> 01:15:54,645
Alex.
No!
615
01:15:54,840 --> 01:15:58,208
Alex. Alex. Hey, Alex.
Jesus Christ.
616
01:15:59,040 --> 01:16:02,089
Alex, what the fuck?
What are you doing?
617
01:16:10,080 --> 01:16:12,162
You wanna make a living
rolling on your back?
618
01:16:12,360 --> 01:16:14,283
Yeah, so what?
I make good money.
619
01:16:14,480 --> 01:16:16,005
I thought you wanted to be a dancer.
620
01:16:16,200 --> 01:16:17,850
- You call that dancing?
- Yeah.
621
01:16:18,040 --> 01:16:19,405
So what's this shit?
622
01:16:19,600 --> 01:16:21,841
Stop it.
That's mine.
623
01:16:27,800 --> 01:16:30,007
Why did you come here?
624
01:16:30,200 --> 01:16:31,929
Because you're my friend.
625
01:16:32,200 --> 01:16:33,645
You jerk.
626
01:16:33,840 --> 01:16:35,444
I'm cold.
627
01:16:35,640 --> 01:16:37,529
So am I.
628
01:16:40,560 --> 01:16:42,528
Come on.
It's okay.
629
01:17:07,600 --> 01:17:09,329
- You don't say hello?
- Hello.
630
01:17:09,560 --> 01:17:12,803
You didn't show up at work.
I was worried about you.
631
01:17:13,240 --> 01:17:15,368
- You look like shit.
- Thanks a lot.
632
01:17:15,560 --> 01:17:16,800
You're welcome.
633
01:17:17,200 --> 01:17:21,046
Listen, I didn't come here to fight.
I came here to see if you were okay.
634
01:17:21,360 --> 01:17:22,805
Forget it.
It doesn't matter.
635
01:17:23,000 --> 01:17:25,321
- What doesn't matter?
- The audition. I don't care.
636
01:17:25,520 --> 01:17:26,931
- You do care.
- I don't care.
637
01:17:27,160 --> 01:17:29,731
You do care.
If you can't be honest with yourself...
638
01:17:29,920 --> 01:17:31,485
...how are you gonna be honest with me?
639
01:17:31,580 --> 01:17:34,060
Listen,
I don't need you telling me what to do...
640
01:17:34,160 --> 01:17:37,164
...and I don't need to hear your shit.
I'm not a baby.
641
01:17:37,360 --> 01:17:39,522
Get the hell out.
Go play with your fucking Porsche.
642
01:17:41,000 --> 01:17:42,631
What you need is a kick in the ass.
643
01:17:42,720 --> 01:17:44,324
Stay away from me.
644
01:17:50,760 --> 01:17:53,604
You're not grown up enough to smoke.
645
01:18:00,960 --> 01:18:04,806
The truth is, you're scared shitless of
going to that place, aren't you?
646
01:18:05,000 --> 01:18:06,445
I am not.
647
01:18:06,640 --> 01:18:10,406
Yes, you are, and you're using me
as an excuse not to go.
648
01:18:10,600 --> 01:18:11,806
Get out.
649
01:18:12,800 --> 01:18:15,246
You're just gonna piss it all away, Alex.
650
01:18:18,400 --> 01:18:22,803
Don't you understand?
When you give up your dream, you die.
651
01:18:28,680 --> 01:18:30,170
See you.
652
01:19:09,520 --> 01:19:11,488
Hanna.
653
01:19:13,600 --> 01:19:14,761
Hanna?
654
01:19:18,320 --> 01:19:19,526
Hanna?
655
01:19:21,800 --> 01:19:23,006
Hanna?
656
01:19:35,720 --> 01:19:36,881
Hanna?
657
01:19:40,600 --> 01:19:44,491
She died.
Yesterday.
658
01:22:35,400 --> 01:22:37,801
- Where you been?
- No place.
659
01:22:40,320 --> 01:22:42,049
What are you doing?
660
01:22:42,720 --> 01:22:44,324
Getting my stuff.
661
01:22:44,920 --> 01:22:47,571
What are you getting your stuff for?
662
01:22:50,600 --> 01:22:55,640
Hey, you know, if it's that bad, why don't you
just go slit your wrists and get it over with?
663
01:22:55,840 --> 01:22:58,320
I thought nothing ever got you down.
664
01:23:04,520 --> 01:23:07,603
You know, when I started out, I was 17.
665
01:23:11,560 --> 01:23:14,404
I used to work
in these old movie theaters.
666
01:23:15,280 --> 01:23:18,523
Every cent I had I spent on costumes.
667
01:23:19,160 --> 01:23:22,926
I had more fancy costumes
and dresses than you do.
668
01:23:24,600 --> 01:23:28,161
Boy, when I went on that stage,
I was looking so good.
669
01:23:33,920 --> 01:23:36,605
One day I just stopped buying them.
670
01:23:38,960 --> 01:23:42,328
I don't even know what happened.
671
01:23:45,600 --> 01:23:47,682
I thought about it a lot.
672
01:23:47,920 --> 01:23:50,446
I just can't seem to pin it down.
673
01:23:52,040 --> 01:23:55,328
The dresses got old.
I just stopped wearing them.
674
01:23:57,840 --> 01:24:01,526
Hey, you know, I got some in a trunk
I'll show you sometime.
675
01:24:01,760 --> 01:24:03,489
Okay.
676
01:24:06,040 --> 01:24:07,485
What the hell.
677
01:24:11,960 --> 01:24:14,201
It's show time.
678
01:24:26,400 --> 01:24:27,970
May the Lord be in your heart...
679
01:24:28,160 --> 01:24:30,242
...and in your mind
that you may confess your sins.
680
01:24:30,440 --> 01:24:32,966
In the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
681
01:24:36,200 --> 01:24:38,851
Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
682
01:24:39,040 --> 01:24:41,850
It's been a long time
since my last confession.
683
01:24:42,040 --> 01:24:43,280
I want...
684
01:24:44,480 --> 01:24:46,608
I want so much.
685
01:26:37,880 --> 01:26:39,530
Can I start again?
