New Kante in 2018-19
캉테의 새로운 모습
첼시는 선수단 통제에 실패한 콘테를 경질하고 나폴리에서 돌풍을 일으켰던 사리감독을 영입했다. 또한 돌풍의 핵심이었던 조르지뉴를 영입하며 일석이조의 효과를 거둘 수 있었다. 이번 칼럼에서는 조르지뉴의 영입이 첼시에 어떠한 전술적 변화를 주었는지 살펴보려고 한다.
조르지뉴는 중앙 미드필더 지역에서 플레잉 메이커의 역할을 주로 수행했다. 넓은 시야와 높은 패스성공률은 역습시 많은 골에 기여했다. 조르지뉴가 첼시에 오면서 캉테는 중앙 수비형 미드필더의 역할에서 벗어날 수 있었다. 다음 사진은 캉테가 이전 시즌과 올해까지 4경기 동안 보여준 성과를 통계표로 나타냈다.

( 2018-19 ) vs arsenal가장 눈에 띄는 변화는 활동영역이다. 17시즌 콘테의 전술에서 캉테는 수비형 미드필더로서 첼시 수비의 ‘핵심’ 이라고 말할 정도로 수비지역에서 많은 활동을 보여줬다. 아직 초반이기는 하지만 18시즌에는 현재 두 경기 내내 하프라인을 넘어 상대팀의 지역에서 더 많은 움직임이 있었다는 것을 알 수 있다.

( 2018-19 ) vs Huddersfield두 번째는 기록들의 차이다. 전 시즌에 인터셉트는 EPL 1위를 달성했을 정도로 수비적인 부분에서 많은 기록을 보여줬지만, 허더스필드와 아스널과의 경기 기록을 살펴보면 캉테가 수비적인 역할이 상대적으로 적은 것을 알 수 있다.
정리하자면, 조르지뉴가 첼시의 새로운 수비형 미드필더의 역할을 수행하면서 캉테는 상대진영 높은 위치에서부터 상대팀을 전진 압박하며 역습 전술에 힘을 보태고 공격 진영에서 볼 점유율을 높이는데 중요한 역할을 맡을 것이라 볼 수 있다.

콘테는 주로 3-4-2-1(3-4-3)의 전술이나 3-5-2의 쓰리백 전술을 사용해왔다. 수비수에게 많은 체력을 필요로 하는 전술이기 때문에 리그 이외의 컵 대회 경기까지 치러야 하는 첼시의 입장에서 리그와 컵 경기를 병행하기가 어려웠다. 반면에 마우리치오 사리는 포백과 변형 쓰리백을 활용하며 상대팀의 전술에 맞춰 역습 혹은 점유율 위주의 플레이를 번갈아 보여주었다. 전술은 정답이 없는 상대적인 것이라 생각하지만, 나폴리에서 보여줬던 사리의 팀 컬러를 칠한 새로운 첼시는 앞으로 어떤 경기를 보여줄지 기대가 된다.
보완점
조르지뉴는 넓은 시야로 게임플레이에 창의성을 불어넣으며 공격에 날개를 붙여주는 역할에는 높은 평가를 받았지만 나폴리에서도 수비적인 측면에서 부족함을 많이 보였다. 특히 아스널 전에서 변형 쓰리백을 통해 깊숙이 전진한 윙백의 빈자리를 메워주지 못해 같은 패턴의 공격을 여러 차례 받으며 실점을 제공했었다. 아직 시즌 초반인 만큼 조직력이 제대로 갖춰지지 않았기 때문에 앞으로 이러한 약점이 잘 보완된다면 더욱 발전할 것이라 본다.
N`Golo Kante, different poistion in this Season
Chelsea fired Antonio Conte who had failed to control players. Afterward, Maurizio Sarri who led Napoli on rank 2nd in SerieA was appointed as new director for this season. With better thing, the keyplayer at Napoli, Jorginho has attended to Chelsea squad. In this column, "How the stratgy will be changed, what Kante's role will be altered to by new player" will be dealed with.
Jorginho's role in Napoli was Central Midfielder as Deep-Lying PlayingMaker. He could attribute wide-sight and high accurate passes to many goals in counter-attack. However, while he has come to the Blues, was in charge of Defensive-Midfielder, it makes kante free from defensive role.
the most change is playing zone. This guy from France was performing as DM in Conte's blue at 17/18. And he leaved outstanding records with rewards for player of Chelsea in 2017/18. Eventhough It is just begining of new season, it is east to know that he has played most in opposite-side over half-line through the heatmap.
At second, there is a difference between records. comparing to previous season following above 4 photos, Kante less played in defensive- area and I guess he may not make such level's records as former season.
Thus, to clarify, Jorginho is mainly going to take charge of DM, while Kante will be playing at the advanced area around arc-circle at the weak right side, Making advanced-pressurance at high-point for count-attack or take an important part to raise ball-possession at the opponent's side.
Expectation
Conte applied two formations 3-4-2-1(or 3-4-3) and 3-5-2. these are needed wingback to spends much more stamina than others. Futhermore, Chelsea was attending league and cup challenge, so it was hard to use main wing player as start at all games, even it was easy for enemy to preven for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Sari has been combining 4 back and flexible 3back strategies to opponent's strategy. I don't think there is a right strategy like answer in math, but with more various ways that Sari prepared, I look forward that Sari's new squad show us better performance in this season.
Concerning
Jorginho was strong at wide-sight and creative building-up in Napoli, but exposed his deficit at defensive-ability. Especially versus Arsenal, Jorginho didn't backup the empty area that wingbacks were supposed to defend, but they had to be upper-side, so Chelsea was unarmed in each side and be attacked many times then lost 2 points. However, Since they couldn't have enough time to organize as it is the beginning, if they prepare for weak part, then this problem depends on time.
