He saw her body outline from the back. She was totally knocked out. He got up, and went to smoke outside. He was hesitant to date Violet at first.
Firstly, she was much younger than he was. Besides, he was afraid of it being discovered by coworkers. What would they think if they found out an investigator, who took on a child abuse case, lived with or dated the very victim of the case? It would come off as creepy. But Violet was too amiable to be pushed away by him. She was a flawless fairy queen, at least to him. After their bodies united, they made love every night, even during the day when he was off.
The more he got to know her body, the more he grew to love her. He wanted to hide the fact that he was living with Violet. After some time, Violet began to come to meet him at his office. Their relationship became an open secret.
One day, Cynthia, frowning deeply, handed in a document to Alexander.
“What is this?”
“Read that part I marked.”
It was the protocol for examination of a suspect who happened to be Violet’s stepfather.
―Why did you beat Violet, your step daughter?
―She’s a whore who is willing to sell her body to any random guy who pays for it. Do you know how many times I saw her having sex with men in my own house? And how many times I drove them away? She is a prostitute. What should I have done to her? I had to educate her not to do that whore shit! What have I done wrong? She is my damn daughter. I have a right to beat her up if she needs educating!
―So you committed a violation against a child in the name of education. Is that so?
―I punished a little whore, that’s it!
Alexander was dumbfounded.
“Why did you show me this?”
“Did you know that your so-called girlfriend was selling herself to random guys?”
“I don’t believe it.”
“This is what I collected after sending the case to court. The prints of extracted message files, call logs, the recording of financial transactions; it was all here.
After Stephen Richardson, the stepfather, was locked in jail, Violet’s mother, who was released on probation, sent all these records to me. She was not a very smart one, but what she wanted is to prove the legitimacy of Stephen’s crimes against Violet. That is, Violet also was the offender of illegal prostitution.”
