When Alexander woke up the next morning, he told Cynthia what the caller had said, and she cautioned him against going.
"It could be a trap, you know,"
she said, as she poured them both cups of coffee.
Handing Alexander’s to him, she continued,
"How can you be so sure that you aren't walking into an ambush?"
"I'm not, but it's a little late in the game to turn back now, eh? I want to see where this goes."
After eating breakfast, Alexander sat in the bedroom, as Cynthia took a shower. He pulled out his Colt Python, swung out the cylinder, loaded it with six .357 magnum rounds, and snapped it shut.
He tucked the pistol in his holster, and made sure he had everything on him that he'd need before leaving the house. There was still a lot of time―it was only mid-morning―but he wanted to make sure he was ready.
This was their plan: The location the caller gave him was a very rural area without neighbors. The nearest house was 10 miles away. The house was surrounded by trees and a narrow road, which meant the house owner can notice quickly if any stranger approached. That might help her to buy some time to arm herself or run away.
But escape from the house seemed not to be very easy. There was no area to stage a vehicle, nor buildings in which one can hide. Therefore, the possibility of attack seemed pretty high. What they had to do was prepare for defense by anticipating her attack.
Alexander planned to ring the bell alone. But not entirely alone. Cynthia and other officers will be mobilized for this. They will go there by car until reaching some distance away, and will move on foot to surround the house itself quietly.
To prevent their target from escaping, or other hand, from attacking if the worst-case scenario played out, everybody there would be completely armed.
The caller ordered it thus. Because of the black mask, anybody could ring the doorbell. It wouldn’t need to be only Alexander. But Alexander wanted to do it. If somebody should arrest her, it should be him, not any other.
