立夏 [6] / [7]

"We need to sleep some before leaving. We haven't slept at all in nearly a day.”

The next thing he knew, Cynthia was watching him through the gap of the open door.

“Oh, yes, you’re right.”

He closed the notebook, stretching himself out. On one hand, they were expectant, and on the other, there was exhaustion and anxiety caused by the uncertainty of what awaited them next. They decided to depart for the address at noon and went back home for a decent rest.

Cynthia recommended he dip his body in hot water mixed with a jasmine and vanilla aroma bath balm. He listened to her and didn't regret it. The feeling of the bath, with such wonderful scents, made him entirely relaxed. When he got into the bedroom after his shower, she was drying her hair with a dryer. The brisk smell from her hair touched him. He saw her bare breasts moving behind the thin cloth whenever she held her hand up to scatter her wet hair in order to dry it well. He approached her back, enveloped her in his arms and kissed her neck. Despite all of his tiresome worries about everything related to this case, he realized that he had wanted her ever since he could remember. Cynthia turned the dryer off, and turn her head to accept his lips.

"When all this is over, let's travel to some nice places,"

Alexander added, "and a wedding march."

Cynthia smiled.

"I can't wait to finish the case."

This small happiness was like a stream of thin, but bright light to him. Everything will pass on eventually. All of these happenings would not define his life. It would soon pass, and indeed what he needed to do was wait and endure all of this unpleasantness and anxiety. Later, I would definitely be . . .
