"What can you offer me?"
"Anything you want."
"I will kill the men,"
she said.
"They’ve never been nice to me. Never. Not to my mom, not to my sisters. I hate men.”
"Only murder? what a small wish!"
The man chuckled. Sarah said nothing.
"This is you, right?"
He held out to her a document as if he intended to give it to her, but as she stretched out her hand, he withdrew it and read loudly.
"Liza Mills. Born on June 21st, 1991. Escaped from a psychiatric hospital, illegal immigrant."
Liza didn't show any response.
"Then why do you want me to be your woman? You know I am insane."
"I'm not interested in normal,"
the man said, trying not to chuckle; something very familiar to Alexander.
"I'll help you to achieve your true revenge without worrying of arrest or being chased by the authorities. But you should listen to me. Be very beautiful, and seduce me. If you're not as hot as I thought, I won't give a shit about you.”
This was only the first video, but Alexander was already seeing a side of Sarah, or Liza, that he'd never seen, or even considered, before.
"She's sick,"
he told Cynthia later.
"Both victim and victimizer. And the man behind the camera is simultaneously her oppressor and enabler."
He also realized fairly quickly precisely why the voice, or, more specifically, the stifled laughter, sounded so familiar to him. Though the voice was older now, that sound hadn't changed. It was the voice of the caller.
"The voice on the video sounds the same as the caller,"
he said to Cynthia.
"I guessed. He said her name 'Lisa', or Liza, Mills. Born in 1991."
They didn't have information on Sarah's real identity yet. Sarah never spoke since being in custody, and there was no match with her fingerprints in the system, which meant she was not registered as a local.
"But he didn't mention her nationality or the hospital's name."
Alexander felt a curious kind of despair. The time they had to hold Sarah under arrest was almost spent. They urgently needed to find the evidence of her crime. Cynthia played the second video.
