"I will wait."
Chloe answered, facing the direction of Alexander's voice. He doubted he would call or visit her again. He glimpsed at Chloe before the door closed. She was looking at the direction of the entrance lethargically and anxiously.
Her afterimage didn't disappear easily. The blind girl who lived such a restricted, lonely life in a wheelchair without any family. Her boyfriend, the only family, whose trail went cold, lost touch with her completely. What would she think after the sun sets? How would she feel when the day breaks again, and still the person she waits for doesn't come . . .
He pulled the notebook out, and wrote a short paragraph.
<Moonlit Night>
Pushing white waves of the flowing moon
Trampling on the shadow of thin trees,
The footsteps towards a burial ground are heavy
The heart accompanied by loneliness in grief,
There's no one in the graveyard where traces of somebody's existence is expected,
only stillness is soaking wet in patches, flowing into the white waves.
"What do you think are on these videos?"
Cynthia flung the question to him.
"I can't wait to watch them. You don't suppose there's decent evidence on them, do you?"
He asked casually while closing the notebook. The caller hadn't called him again since.
Their hearts were excited with curiosity about the videos. As soon as they got to the office, Alexander set up the VCR, and put the first video into it.
At first the screen shook badly, but soon stabilized. It had a clear picture, but the color wasn’t great, making it feel like watching old movies on TV. They were concentrating on the screen.
Alexander was startled from the first. Sarah was there on the screen. But not like when he saw her. Her face looked much younger but empty. She wore shabby clothes, her hair was disheveled. She was on a bed that looked dirty. Somebody was recording her.
"Do you wanna be my girl?"
According to the voice, the person who was recording the video must be a man. Alexander expected her to say nothing. But she was speaking.
