The sunset waned until just a sliver of orange was visible, cresting the horizon among the cascade of late evening hues slowly fading to black. After what seemed like an indeterminate amount of time, Alexander rose and stretched out. His body felt stiff, but, for the first time in a good while, his mind felt relaxed, detached from the trauma, trials, and anxieties that plagued him of late. His date didn't go well, but he found something more in this night.
A clarity gained only from sufficient time alone in an environment suitably conducive to introspection and deep thought. He was on the cusp of grasping an idea, something profound.
