"How?"

"There's nothing bizarre about writing about if something really happened to you. You've read the victim's statements, haven't you?"

"I did. I’ve read them a few times over,"

he answered.

"Do you remember the part where the kid talks about the suspect's appearance?"

"Well . . . "

"Slim, not fat, tall, doesn't look scary, had a kindly appearance. What do you think?"

she asked.

"Hm, normal? Typical?"

"That's it. According to the kid's statements, the suspect could be anyone."

"Even if that's the case, my reason is still not very convincing."

"Let's see. Kiara told you Lucas left her in the early evening on Christmas day."

"Yes, she did."

"His home is 2 km from the alley,"

she continued,

"It's totally valid if you write down and sketch out all of these happenings, and it wouldn't be a huge problem if there's some slight doubt caused by a detective's suspicion. Kiara's statement almost matches with the suspect`s movements.”

Alexander said nothing, and his mind was busy.

"Do you still have that photo capture from the CCTV recording?"

she asked.

"Yes, I have it."

he said.

"Can you ask Kiara a question? Did he wear that hoody that day or not?"

He made a phone call to Kiara that finished not long after it started. His face turned livid, simultaneously reflecting the abhorrent nature of recent revelations and astonishment at how things were unfolding.

"See? It's not questionable at all."

Alexander made a request for analysis to be done as quickly as possible.

“Request Kleber at the forensics department to conduct the analysis. If Lucas Arias is really the criminal we’ve been searching for, we can take him at once. I will find his location via his phone GPS, you bring Anna and Ed with you to arrest him there.”

Her voice sounded excited, but Alexander remained subdued. He went to Ethan Kleber, with whom, long before, he once worked in the same department. He was working in his office.

“I need you to take a look at these samples,”

Alexander said to him.

Ethan closely examined those legal articles and documents which Alexander wrote, saying,

"If he is really the true criminal, that would be quite the morbid coincidence."
