"That's right,"
Alexander answered, gnashing his teeth in indignation.
"Can you handle this as quickly as possible?"
“I will contact you when I get the results. It will take a few days,”
Ethan replied lightly.
If only it proved that Lucas was the criminal, as his intuition suggested, he'd rain down fire on the little bastard without any hesitation. His heart was burning with a strange sort of passion. Perhaps his hatred towards him was contaminating his mind.
He needed to refresh. But not in the bar. He opened his phone, and pulled up Sarah's number. What he needed was just a break: something not related to his work. After a few seconds of hesitation, he called her number.
The voice that came through the phone was undoubtedly Sarah's.
"Hey stranger, that was fast,"
she sounded a little surprised, but she was also clearly being flirty.
"Most of the men I've met in the past wait at least the customary day or so before contacting me, and that's usually by text. You must be the old-fashioned type. Direct, and aggressive."
He liked her. There was just something about her that he couldn't quite put his finger on, but he knew that calling her was the right decision.
"Did you eat anything? How about grabbing something light for an early dinner?"
he said, "There's a Mexican restaurant not far from my workplace; about 5 minutes away for you by bus. They have great quesadillas. What do you say?"
She laughed,
"Quesadillas and chill? Sounds fun."
He hung up the phone. The first official date with her. A feeling of elation that he hadn’t felt in a long time went up like faint smoke from the bottom of his heart. He didn’t know whether she felt the same way as he did. Therefore, lonesome feelings of longing smeared his writing in spite of his mood, which he jotted down right after making his appointment with Sarah.
<Like the moon>
As if the rings in the tree of life grow
In the quiet of the night, the moon grows up
A lonely love like the moon
Which is making my chest heavy
Blooms like new rings for the coming year
After awhile, he groomed his hair to go to the meeting place. Something was missing though. He approached Ed sneakily, asking, “Do you have some cologne?”
