이방인으로 꽤 오랜 시간 외국에서 살아봤는데, 주로 두가지 선택이 가능했던것 같다: 현지에 적응하든가 모국으로 돌아가든가. 난 부모를 따라간 어린아이로서 현지에 적응하는 것 말곤 선택의 여지가 없었다. 부모님은 귀국할 생각이 없으신듯 했으니말이다. 스토리 속 인물의 #선택지 를 이런식으로 한쪽에서 빠져나갈수없는 경우로 상상하면, 치열하고 적극적인 캐릭터가 만들어진다.
I have lived as an outsider in a foreign land for quite a number of years and I think there were usually two choices in any given situation: to adjust to local society or return to the home country. As a child who went abroad with the parent, I had no #choice but to adjust to local society. Because my parents didn’t seem to want to return to the country of origin at the time. By imagining the character in a story to be placed in such particular situation they can’t get out of, we can create an intense and proactive character.
