Ron Parker

Isn't the entire life of a digital nomad a vacation (holiday in UK English). You are in a vacation location 100% of the time.

Ela Palmer

I hate that term, if applied to nomads it's always in the context of 'you're just on holiday all the time', and if applied to people who work in a traditional way, it seems to imply that you can have a relaxing break even if you have work with you (which is unhealthy and encourages bad bosses to get you working or switched on 24/7). Perhaps it's a different thing or viewed differently elsewhere?

Chris Whittier

Work + Vacation = does not compute

Christa Knox

That's basically what I do. I spend the week working and on the weekend venture out wherever I'm at. It's why staying a month in one city helps.

Lucy Soboleva

Christa Knox what type of work do you do ? Or do you do smth like this with the work - stay exchange ?

Krzysztof Szcześniak

Work is the opposite of vacation. You can not have both. If you're travelling to nice places while working it's not vacation, it's enjoying life.

Troy Burney

I try to workation. I've been bad about maintaining the balance.

-

Shout to the "Workationing" podcast. I got the term from them.

I hope Kari and Kelly are going well.

--

To quote a line from the podcast: "Lately it's been more 'work' than 'cationing'."

Keith Finger

If you're working on vacation (other than just checking messages) it's hardly a vacation.

Huy Hoàng

Keith Finger why not? When I travel to a new city, I do a day tour then work then go to bed and repeat the next day

Irakli Zviadadze

why not take a regular vacation

and if you're still working how is it a vacation

Paula Vazquez

Irakli Zviadadze I wonder the same

Eddie Smith

Irakli Zviadadze well….that’s the “work” part of workation. I just did one from Greece. It was nice to get up and walk the beach, take some meetings and work by the pool, have a swim around lunch and then have the evenings for small excursions. It took some discipline, but what doesn’t. I highly recommend it.

Alex Tully

Irakli Zviadadze As long as you’re not working 7 days a week, you’ll have days off which you can enjoy in a different place.

Diana Diana

totally overrated and really hard to explain

Christian Zimpel

Yes!

At Raidboxes we can do it. Alone or together with others.

Wojtek Okon

Live your life at a pace and place that you don’t need vacations.

Michael Grierson

Welcome to my life!

Padmaka Mirihagalla

It works only when you love what you do

Anja Jung

I think every dn should do that. Isn't that one of the reasons why we travel

Danish Soomro

Well we digital nomads created this term so yes

Imo Cook

Been on one for over 4 years…

Steven Warren

Pick one. That’s like having a living death. You’ll never be 10O% productive at work while trying to enjoy your vacation, and you won’t fully enjoy a vacation thinking about work.

Nico Meining

Steven Warren Depends on the time your doing it and defenetly the Job youre working Only the first 2 Weeks after arriving seem to be a little hard. Once u get used to the new environment everything is okay

Chris Bates

So happy that my timeline does not have to be categorised in ‘work’ and ‘vacation’ and I can do the things that I want and when I want to.

Some things generate income, sometimes, some don’t, sometimes.

Javier Caballero

We have this at MailerLite. It’s a week long and everyone on the team gets together for updates, a little work but mostly getting to know each other.

Such trips are really amazing and helps feeling part of something bigger and getting to see your coworkers face to face just feels good.

I would recommend this for any remote teams.

Gage Miller

I think we may have been the ones who invented it?

Angel Lombardo

I think that if you are in a beautiful spot that people consider a vacation spot and you live there and work, you have the best of both worlds

Diana Goldstein

Nomads have balance. We can work from any spot. And we take time off and enjoy when we need. We follow local customs.

Pat Jang

Worcation/workation is when your company/team is going on vacation together to bond more. at least that's how I know it.

Niki Yao

Like working holiday?!

lee

Most people just call it work.
