20. ○어찌하여 고난 당하는 자에게 빛을 주셨으며 마음이 아픈 자에게 생명을 주셨는고

¶“Why is light given to one burdened with grief,

And life to the bitter of soul,

21. 이러한 자는 죽기를 바라도 오지 아니하니 땅을 파고 숨긴 보배를 찾음보다 죽음을 구하는 것을 더하다가

Who long for death, but there is none,

And dig for it more than for hidden treasures;

22. 무덤을 찾아 얻으면 심히 기뻐하고 즐거워하나니

Who are filled with jubilation,

And rejoice when they find the grave?

23. 하나님에게 둘러 싸여 길이 아득한 사람에게 어찌하여 빛을 주셨는고

“Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden,

And whom God has shut off?

24. 나는 음식 앞에서도 탄식이 나며 내가 앓는 소리는 물이 쏟아지는 소리 같구나

“For my groaning comes at the sight of my food,

And my cries pour out like water.

25. 내가 두려워하는 그것이 내게 임하고 내가 무서워하는 그것이 내 몸에 미쳤구나

“For what I fear comes upon me,

And what I dread encounters me.

26. 나에게는 평온도 없고 안일도 없고 휴식도 없고 다만 불안만이 있구나

“I am not at ease, nor am I quiet,

And I am not at rest, but turmoil comes.”
