The Practice of Seeing
Finding the daily practice of aligning vision with truth.

Glass is perspective.
What was once blurred by confusion
becomes clear.
The architect Álvaro Siza said,
“Glass is a material of duality—both separation and connection.”
Not merely a window to the outside,
but a filter that shapes the direction, intensity, and color of light.
Therefore,
when we focus on what is most valuable in life through glass,
the trivial things are pushed to the margins.
Siza also said,
“A window opens different worlds depending on where one stands.”
Thus, glass acts as a frame that defines relationships.
Glass is easily stained.
It breaks with little force.
Fingerprints and droplets leave their marks.
So,
we must polish it with care, regularly,
to see again what had been obscured.
Glass is a true gift of perception.
To align vision with truth is a daily practice.
Vision is the value of life.
To align with truth is to see the present as it is—
unclouded by past or future.
Daily practice is the way we govern our emotions.
How are you looking at the world now?
What is your perspective?
In the quiet margins of daily life,
let us gently, with care,
wipe the glass.
