The Last Will
John 13:31-38
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” 36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” 37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
Jesus came to the earth and died on the cross, suffering from all kinds of malice and harasses in order to glorify God, which is the only purpose of Himself. How could He persevere that. He must have had a faith on God who would glorify Him as God is Himself, like we get honored by his own sons or daughters, or vice versa.
Jesus' last will for His disciples was to love one another! How could just loving be the last word to His followers. It sounds like parents say to his children before dying, "Be nice to each other."
Loving is simple, but it is very complicated because we humans are selfish in nature, so many thoughts and feelings stop us from simply loving one another. The symptom of the last day of the world is that love loses its power and love withers and disappears.
So I would try to love people until I die, with what I have; time, smile, food, money, and hands and feet, and with my knowledge of English and faith on Him, etc. That is the best command of Jesus, and it's all the commandments of God given to me. How about you? As Jesus said that glorifying God means glorifying Himself as they are one, so I do feel and have faith on that. Father, let me glorify your Holy and Greatest name, today and tomorrow, I pray in a beautiful name, Jesus, amen.
