20. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 의가 서기관과 바리새인보다 더 낫지 못하면 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라
20. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
21. 옛사람에게 말한 바 살인치 말라 누구든지 살인하면 심판을 받게 되리라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
21. “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’
22. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 형제에게 노하는 자마다 심판을 받게 되고 형제를 대하여 라가라 하는 자는 공회에 잡히게 되고 미련한 놈이라 하는 자는 지옥 불에 들어가게 되리라
22. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Jesus is explaining about what the true righteousness is, and no one seems to get freed from these judgment at all, although we never say any bad words out of mouths, or we do not hate anyone, or have a spouse at home, etc.
Moreover, He seems to ask His children of extremely hard things that we could never do. Therefore we can't avoid the judgment of God, and we will be kept admonished for not doing one of those by our strict Father.
Simply put, we are not perfect and He knows it well enough. Then, why does He ask us to do what seems to be impossible? Because I need to play the good role of the salt and light in this evil generations, my heart and my behaviors should differ from the other non-believers, so this is the reason that my Christian life becomes tougher and tougher as the world gets more amd more wicked.
In conclusion, I am not the one of righteousness at all, but I was called righteous by Jesus' sacrifice. So, I will try to be christal clear before God in prayer with the Holy Spirit, thereby lighting the darkness and leading one more person to the place of salvation, no matter how hard and painful it is, which is surely my mission and His calling.
