According to Genesis 3, God didn't get Cain's sacrifice, the reason is that he was not right, though he offered some meat that he had hunted. It must have been a hard work for him to catch animals and skin off and make them apart. Vice versa, Abel's grain offering seems easier and lighter than Cain's. If I were God, I'd have loved to receive and enjoy the meat than the grains;)
However, my righteous Father God, didn't accept it and couldn't stand it (the unrighteous offering) any more, and He refused it, which led to the killing of his own brother, Abel. Accordingly, it became the first murdering of all mankind, and it triggered the flawless and absolute sacrifice, that is, the crucifixion of Jesus for all mankind.
God desires mercy, not sacrifice. Even though I offer Him tenth, thanks offerings, and many more, if I do not have mercy on others, with my behaviors unright and my mind full of sins, He would not be accpeting them and He would refuse them all, including my soul. Father, let me read Your mind and make it fullfilled through my life, and let me please You with all my offering as well. Amen.
