24. 예수께서 그들 앞에 또 비유를 베풀어 가라사대 천국은 좋은 씨를 제 밭에 뿌린 사람과 같으니
24. Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25. 사람들이 잘 때에 그 원수가 와서 곡식 가운데 가라지를 덧뿌리고 갔더니
25. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
26. 싹이 나고 결실할 때에 가라지도 보이거늘
26. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
30. 둘 다 추수 때까지 함께 자라게 두어라 추수 때에 내가 추숫군들에게 말하기를 가라지는 먼저 거두어 불사르게 단으로 묶고 곡식은 모아 내 곳간에 넣으라 하리라
30. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”
While we are sleeping, our enemies come and sow weeds among the wheat, and go away.
Weeds could be emotional, mental, and spiritual enemies that grow and dwell deep inside of my heart, and at the same time, they could be real-life ones who stop me from doing good works. The key point of Jesus' message that was caught by my eyes today is that while I am sleeping, my enemies do the evil work and I don't even know when and where they came from. The provider of the problem is not only the enemies who sowed weeds, but also myself who was sleeping and wasn't awake, and accordingly, allowing them to do the evil work in my field.
I have been wondering why this kind of weeds are growing in my life, in particular, while and even though I have been trying to do good.
Thankfully, I think that I found out the answer this morning. It is because of my spiritual enemies, the devils and satans, and also it is because of my spiritual laziness: slow to make good soil and not catching the presence of the evil ones as well. Plus, every time when trouble or persecutions come, I tend to give up. And the worries of this life and let the deceitfulness of wealth choke me, making even good seeds, the Gospel, unfruitful or yielding just a little bit of harvest throughout my life.
Father, let me yield 100 times and more what was sown into my heart and let me endure all kinds of sufferings and let me awake all the time, so no temptations may come upon me or let me overcome them as quickly as I can. I pray in Jesus, the precious name, amen.
