마태복음(Mat) 13장

23.02.22

15. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’

Most of humans see and hear, but what we see and hear is more important as they affect our lives in a positive or negative way. On seeing or hearing something, what we do, in other word, our response to it and attitude toward it will surely affect our lives more and better or worse than before we see or hear something.

There are two kinds of listeners, purposeful listeners and passive listeners, according to Dr. Charles Stanley. The crowds must be the first ones and deciples were the latter, because they asked Jesus about the meaning of the parables Jesus said again and again. They must have kept that in mind and tried to turn away from their selfish and sinful lives. So their souls could be healed by Jesus, willingly to be submissive to His words and showing a joyful and cheerful obedience to Him, until the moment of death like Jesus. Surprisingly, most of them lived the Christ-like life, so i can say that they were the true listeners.

What about me? Do I want to listen and read the Word of God in order to turn and be healed by Him? Or just feeling satisfied with what I hear and building the knowledge of God, or making my heart more calloused (hard), or refusing Him?

My answer is this: Turning and healing, and living a Christ-like life, guided by His Word, which is the lamp and the light to my feet and the path of my life.
