민수기(Num) 11장

14. 책임이 심히 중하여 나 혼자는 이 모든 백성을 질 수 없나이다

14. I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me.

15. 주께서 내게 이같이 행하실찐대 구하옵나니 내게 은혜를 베푸사 즉시 나를 죽여 나로 나의 곤고함을 보지 않게 하옵소서

15. If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”

The prayer of Moses seems to sound like a wailing that comes from the deepest part of his heart as he must have been exhausted and feel powerless, hearing the continuous complaining about food. They were not even his children and he couldn't find any reasons of why he had to care for them in the wilderness, and above all, the numbers were enormous and he had nothing to give them, either. I feel sorry for the situation that he had to face, and I understand why he even asked for death to God.

His prayer leads me to think of what prayer is and how i should pray to God?

Firstly, he didn't argue with those who had complained to him, rather trying to satisfy their needs.

Secondly, I think that Moses was very merciful and had sympathy on the people like a father who cares for his own children. In a word, his prayer is for others' sake, not for his sake.

Thirdly, through his prayer i could feel that he was a very honest man with a pure heart, because he was telling the details of his mind and thought clearly and without any flowery words or expressions(미사어구).

In closing, I have learned a lesson from Moses' behavior and attitude that he had when he was in trouble. Whenever i feel heavy because of others' burden on me, I would go to Him who  loves them more than me, and ask for help without hiding or hesitating as I am sure that He would be a good listener because He is a generous Father.
