Taliban negotiators are reportedly discussing details in the presidential palace, but are understood to want an unconditional surrender of the Afghan government. Meanwhile, a frenzied helicopter evacuation of America’s embassy in Kabul is under way.

Ford filed a request with America’s patents office to rescind both of General Motors’s “Cruise” and “Super Cruise” trademark registrations. The tit-for-tat move came less than a month after GM sued Ford for infringing its trademarks with its “Blue Cruise” hands-free driving technology.

The American division of T-Mobile, a German telecoms firm, said it is investigating claims made by a post on an internet forum that someone has hacked into its servers and is trying to sell data on over 100m of its customers. If a hack is confirmed, it will be T-Mobile’s fifth known breach in less than three years.
