The US-Iran war has disrupted the global fertilizer supply.
The Chinese government restricted fertilizer exports, Australian farmers reduced wheat production, and US farmers requested relief measures from President Trump.
Fertilizer is produced from natural gas. Ammonia is produced from natural gas, and urea (fertilizer) is produced from that ammonia. The prices of natural gas, ammonia, and urea have all risen.
Consequently, the prices of agricultural products and food ingredients will also increase and be passed on to consumers.
