Spoil: quarantine in SK will be lifted
Internship report by Rand
Quarantine in South Korea is a mandatory step to do to enter South Korea, whether you are vaccinated or not. Whereas it's a boring period for some people, for others, it's a good experience. Read till the end to see what will happen to the quarantine!
When you arrive in South Korea with a K-ETA, you are directly sent to a government facility near Incheon airport to quarantine for 7 days. After filling out some papers, you pay the amount of ₩120.000 (around $97) per night which includes the price of your stay, the PCR test, and the food. When you enter the room, the quarantine starts and you shouldn't leave the room until the end.
The room has all the essential products: toothbrush, toothpaste, trash bags, snacks, soap, shampoo, tissues, kettle, cups, and wifi. The meals were provided 3 times a day and there is a phone for assistance when you needed it.
I understand it may be hard to stay in a room when the only thing you want is to explore South Korea. However, as a student, quarantine was the only leisure time I had. It is such a unique experience: you don't have to cook nor to clean, nobody bothers you, and it is calm. All-day long, I watched videos, dramas, movies, series, and TV.
The food is provided three times a day. In my hotel, it was at 7 AM for breakfast, 11 AM for lunch, and 5 PM for diner. You can choose your diet between standard, no pork, vegetarian, or vegan. They give diverse and a lot of food so you can enjoy.
On day 6, you will be doing a PCR test and if the result is negative, you can leave the next day. You have the choice between leaving by yourself, by taxi, or by shuttle bus. I took the shuttle bus which took me to Unseo Station, then there I took the metro to my home. Easy, right?
Well, you don't have to worry about the quarantine anymore! From March 21, the quarantine will be lifted for vaccinated people who have proof of vaccination. Fully vaccinated means you have 3 vaccine shots, or 2 shots two days earlier or less than 180 days. And from April 1, a new Q-Code system will be put in place which will make the entrance easier for people vaccinated outside Korea.
