You might have heard of Gwangjang Market (광장시장), Namdaemun Market (남대문시자), or Tongin Market (통인시장). All of these markets are rich in history, culture, and delicious food. The markets are popular among locals but also tourists. Although each of the mentioned markets has an endless variety of food and drinks you can choose from, it is the characteristics and the vibe of an individual market that thrives the place.

The one market that is rarely being talked about is Mangwon Market (망원시장). Slowly gaining more foot traffic, Mangwon market is a market that is absolutely loved by locals and a place to get great food or produce for cheaper than you would find in a Lotte Mart, Emart, or local supermarket. Despite the fact that the market is not as big as the other three, it still offers more than enough. Each individual stall sells or specializes in its own thing, whether it is fruit, meats, or fried chicken, you will be amazed by the number of options that are available there.

If you want a small escape from the busy city and tourists, Mangwon market is a good place to be. Even though it still can get crowded. If you are a foodie, it is recommended to walk by every stall first before purchasing anything to eat as you may miss the opportunity to try something that might catch your eye later on the more you walk. Tteokgalbi, Fried Chicken, and Korokke seemed the most popular as there was a small queue for those items.

In the area around the market, are lots of establishments and cafes including the Tokyo Bingsu that was mentioned here. So if there is nothing that you might like Mangwon area has enough other options to offer.
