Breakfast at 7 a.m. — a large “double-double” with a slice of toast.
Dinner — whoever volunteers: Today was me; hence, Greek!
Supper can be humble —
a bowl of tomato soup,
a couple of crackers enough.
On the table,
bills, receipts, envelopes
scattered over here—only two weeks have passed,
yet, there, time stuttered,
waiting for results:
X-ray, MRI, CT scan,
blood work, EEG, ECG, C&S,
the doctor’s rounds…
Our normal days and nights
scooped out into past;
empty rooms,
an unused toothbrush,
a full box of tea—
the house of silence
I should've laughed more with you.
I shoud've danced with you.
It should've been me; not you.
I would've,
I would've,
I would've died; not you.
