A Monster Wearing Headphones

어느 집에 엄마와 딸 그리고 딸의 강아지 한 마리가 살고 있었어요.

There lived a mom and her daughter and her daughter's dog in a house.

딸은 집에서 항상 헤드폰을 쓰고 다녔어요.

The daughter wore headphones at home all the time.

딸이 헤드폰을 쓰기 전에는 항상 이어폰을 끼고 다녔어요.

Before wearing headphones, she used to wear earphones at home.

세 번째 새로 산 이어폰마저 강아지가 다 물어뜯은 이후로 딸은 헤드폰을 쓰고 다녀요.

That happened after her dog chewed off on her third earphones that she bought after her dog destoryed her previous two other earphones.

엄마는 궁금했어요.

Her mom wondered:

'그냥 들어도 되는데 왜 항상 헤드폰을 쓰고 다닐까?'

'Why does she always wear headphones when she could hear from her devices?'

엄마는 불러도 대답 없는 딸에게 점점 지쳐 갔어요.

The mom got tired of her unanswering daughter.

딸도 방해하는 엄마가 짜증스러웠어요.

And the daughter started getting annoyed by her intrusive mom.

엄마는 딸과 할 말이 있을 때에는 전화를 걸거나 문자를 보내는 것이 가장 빠른 방법이라는 것을 알게 됐어요.

The mom realized that the quickest way to get hold of her daughter was to either calling her or texting her.

딸의 방은 엄마 방의 바로 옆방이었지만 헤드폰 때문에 딸은 엄마가 부르는 소리를 듣지 못했기 때문이죠.

Even though the daughter's room was right next to her mom's room, she couldn't hear her mom calling her since she always has her headphones on.

어느 날 딸이 괴물 그림을 그렸어요.

One day, the daughter drew a picture of a monster.

엄마는 그 그림을 보니 너무 우스웠어요.

Her mom found her daughter's picture amusing.

그 그림 속의 괴물이 딸과 많이 닮았기 때문이었죠.

Because the monster in the picture closely resembled her daughter.

엄마는 그날부터 딸을 헤드폰 괴물이라고 부르기로 했어요.

From that moment, the mom decided to call her daughter a monster wearing headphones.
