나는 예술가로, 교육자로, 정책 제안자로 살아오며 ‘예술이 삶을 바꾼다’는 확신을 얻었습니다.

누군가는 “예술이 밥 먹여주냐”고 묻지만,

나는 오히려 “예술 없이 무엇을 먹고 살 수 있을까” 되묻고 싶습니다.

예술은 우리 사회를 더 감각적이고, 공감 가능하게 만들고, 우리 아이들이 인간다운 사고를 할 수 있게 도와주는 삶의 근력입니다. 그 기초체력을 다지는 교육이야말로, 가장 멀리 가는 투자입니다.

이제 우리에게 필요한 것은 ‘한류의 다음 단계’입니다.

더 이상 콘텐츠 수출만으로는 충분하지 않습니다.

우리는 세계의 문화교육 파트너가 되어야 합니다.

이 책은 한 예술가의 작은 실천에서 시작된 꿈이,

어떻게 정책이 되고 비전이 될 수 있는지 보여주는 여정이기도 합니다.

예술은 공공재입니다.

그리고 모든 국민이 누릴 수 있는 권리입니다.

예술이 있는 사회, 예술가가 존중받는 사회는

결국 모두가 더 행복해지는 사회입니다.

오늘 이 책을 읽고, 내일 누군가와 예술의 이야기를 나눈다면...

그것이 우리가 함께 내딛는 문화강국의 첫걸음이 될 것입니다.

1-1. 기초예술교육 제도화
