포드자동차가 6주간의 파업 끝에 임금 4.5년간 25% 인상에 복리 포함해 33% 인상의 파격적이며 역사적인 노사 합의로 종결됐으나 한국이 집중 투자한 배터리 노동자는 계약에서 배제됐다.

전미자동차노조(UAW) 위원장 숀 파인(Shawn Fain)은 25일 자동차 회사가 기록적인 급여 인상과 함께 4년 반 동안 계약에 동의했다고 페이스북에 밝혔다.

파인 위원장은 “UAW가 4년 계약 기간 동안 25%의 임금 인상을 포함하여 포드와 역사적인 합의에 도달했다”면서 “포드 노동자들은 즉시 11%의 임금 인상을 받게 될 것이며 복리 및 생활비를 포함하여 노동자 급여는 계약 기간 동안 시간당 $40 이상으로 약 33% 인상된다”고 밝혔다.

파인 위원장은 이어 “일반적인 임금 인상 외에도 최저임금 임시직 근로자는 계약 기간 동안 150% 이상의 인상을 보게 될 것이며 직원은 3년 후에 최고 급여에 도달할 것”이라며 “노조는 미래의 공장 폐쇄에 대해 파업할 권리를 얻었다”고 밝혔다.

파업 타결을 보도한 로이터는 “UAW는 포드의 특정 부품 사업장에 종사하는 노동자에 대한 저임금 계층 제거에 성공했다”며 “이는 파인 위원장이 협상 과정 초기부터 강조한 문제로 파업 노동자들은 파업 내내 ‘End Tiers' 슬로건이 적힌 티셔츠를 입고 있었다”고 보도했다.

포드의 이번 잠정 계약이 노조와 이사회에서 비준되면 GM과 스텔란티스에서도 새 교섭 기준을 설정하고 2028년 4월 30일이 게약 만료 기한이다.

GM과 스텔란티스도 이날 성명으로 “가능한 한 빨리 계약을 확보하기 위해 노력하고 있다”고 로이터가 밝혔다.

포드의 페인 위원장이 발표한 노사 4년 계약 조건에는 배터리 공장인 디트로이트 3공장(Detroit Three)가 아시아 파트너들과 합작으로 건설하고 있는 새 합작투자 전기자동차 배터리 공장의 미래 급여 및 노조 결성에 대한 언급은 없었다.

로이터는 “이들은 별도의 법인이 소유하고 있기 때문에 자동차 제조업체는 이번 협상에 해당 공장을 포함시킬 필요가 없었다”면서 “페인은 배터리 공장 임금이 조립 공장의 임금과 비슷할 것이라는 보장을 촉구했으며 디트로이트 3개의 연소 파워트레인 공장의 UAW 일자리가 시간이 지남에 따라 비노조 배터리 운영으로 인해 손실될 것이라는 우려를 표명했다”고 밝혔다.

한국의 가장 큰 투자자인 LG엔솔은 3분기에 GM과 합작투자한 미국 현지법인에서 인플레이션감축법(IRA)를 이용해 ‘생산품 납품 정착 이전에 보조금을 수익으로 회계처리’하면서 ‘3분기 이익 40.1% 증가(전년동기대비)’로 발표했으나, 한국 증시에서 주가는 3.7% 하락했다.

LG엔솔의 3분기 매출은 작년 2분기(7조6482억원)보다 7.5% 상승에 올해 2분기(8조7735억원) 대비 6.3% 감소했다. 

3분기 영업이익은 지난해 같은 기간(5219억원)보다 40.1%, 2분기(4606억원)보다 58.7% 각각 증가했다. 

반면 3분기 영업이익에 우선 반영한 미국 IRA 세액공제(Tax Credit) 금액은 2155억원으로, 이를 제외한 3분기 영업이익은 5157억원이며, 영업이익률은 6.3%다.

3분기에 LG엔솔은 신규 생산 라인을 집중적으로 증설 가동해 2분기보다 94% 급증시켰다.kimjc00@hanmail.net

If Ford's tentative contract is ratified by the union and board of directors, GM and Stellantis will also set new bargaining standards, and the contract will expire on April 30, 2028.
