이스라엘 야당 대표가 ’네타냐후 교체‘와 ’치유 재연결 연합정부‘’ 구성을 밝혔고 네타냐후 총리는 미국 CBC 뉴스에서 사상자를 최소화하려는 시도는 "성공하지 못했다"고 16일 말했다.

이스라엘 야당 지도자 야이르 라피드는 이날 네타냐후 총리를 교체할 때라며 네타냐후의 우파 리쿠드당이 이끄는 통합 정부를 구성하기 위한 광범위한 지지가 있을 것이라고 X(트위터)에 밝혔다.

라피드 대표는 지난해 총리를 역임한 중도파이고, 이날 "국가 재건 정부를 수립해야 할 때가 왔다. 리쿠드당이 이끌 것이고, 네타냐후와 극단주의자들이 교체될 것이며, 90명 이상의 크네세트(의회) 의원들이 치유와 재연결을 위한 연합의 파트너가 될 것이다"고 소셜 미디어 플랫폼 X에 썼다.

네타냐후가 이끄는 리쿠드당은 극단적 민족주의 정당과 종교 정당을 포함하는 이스라엘 집권 연정에서 가장 큰 정당으로 의회에서 64석이다.

라피드 야당 대표는 의회 120석에 대해 “소속 의원 120명 중 대다수가 연정에 서명할 것으로 믿는다”고 밝혔다.

그는 X에 "지금은 때가 아니라고 말하는 사람들이 있다. 우리는 40 일을 기다렸고 더 이상 시간이 없다. 지금 우리에게 필요한 것은 안보와 경제 외에는 아무것도 다루지 않는 정부이다"며 "우리는 내년에 또 다른 선거 주기를 감당할 수 없으며, 우리는 계속 싸우고 상대방이 왜 재앙인지 설명할 수 없다"고 밝혔다.

네타냐후 총리는 이날 미국 CBS 뉴스 인터뷰에서 ‘이스라엘이 가자지구의 하마스 무장 세력의 10월 7일 공격에 대한 보복으로 팔레스타인인 수천 명을 살해하는 것이 새로운 세대의 증오를 부채질할 것이냐’ 질문에 대응해 "민간인의 죽음은 비극이다. 하마스가 민간인들을 위험에 빠뜨리기 위해 모든 것을 하고 있는 반면, 우리는 민간인들을 위험에 빠뜨리기 위해 할 수 있는 모든 것을 하고 있기 때문에 우리는 그런 것을 가져서는 안 된다"고 대답했다.

네타냐후는 이어 "그래서 우리는 전단지를 보내고, (우리는) 그들의 휴대폰으로 전화를 걸어 '떠나라'고 말한다. 그리고 많은 이들이 떠났다"며 "제가 말씀드릴 수 있는 또 다른 것은 민간인 사상자를 최소화하면서 그 일을 끝내기 위해 노력할 것이라는 것이다. 그것이 우리가 하고자 하는 일이다. 민간인 사상자를 최소화하는 것이다. 하지만 안타깝게도 성공하지 못했다"고 말했다.
