문정인 대통령 전 특보가 "트럼프, 북한 의지할 최고 희망" 발언에서 바이든 행정부에 대해 “한국이 미국 편에 설 경우 북한 포함해 한반도 평화 담보하기 어렵다”고 급반전했다.

문 전 특보(세종연구소 이사장)은 아사히신문에 11일 “어느 진영에 속하는 것이 아니라 다자 협력과 지역 통합의 새로운 질서를 만드는 것”이라며 “미중 충돌을 막고 외교적으로 움직일 수 있는 공간 확보하는 적극적 외교”라면서 ‘초월적 외교’를 주장하며 내놓은 ‘미국 편 반대’ 발언이 ‘바이든 체제 반대’로 보인다.

문 특보는 앞서 "도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령과 스티븐 비건 국무부 부장관은 북한이 의지할 만한 최고의 희망"이라고 코리아타임스 2020년 1월 10일 기고에서 밝혔다.

문 특보는 2020 7월 2일 “가장 나쁜 사람은 볼턴, 가장 추한 사람은 아베, 좀 괜찮은 사람은 트럼프, 아주 좋은 사람은 (스티브) 비건”이라고 국회의 한반도평화포럼 긴급토론회에서 강연했다.

문 특보는 2019년 12월 12일 '통일장관 외교안보특보 송년특별대담'에서 "트럼프 대통령은 재선 이외에 관심이 없다. 북한이 도발을 할 경우 군사적 응징이 대선에 도움이 될까를 계산할 것"이라 말했고 이후 트럼프 재선지지를 지속했다.

트럼프 대통령은 2017년 11월 7일 방한에 문 특보는 유시민 노무현재단 이사장과 12일 ‘알릴레오’ 대담에서 <‘문 대통령의 노벨평화상’ 가능성을 두고 "노벨상은 트럼프 대통령에게, 우리는 평화만 가져오자"라고 말한 것에 "트럼프 대통령이 고마워했다는 이야기가 들린다">라고 말했다.

유 이사장은 "70억 사피엔스(인류) 중, 가족 빼면 트럼프 대통령에게 제일 잘해주는 사람이 문 대통령 같다. 트럼프 대통령은 이랬다저랬다 하는데 문 대통령에 대해선 나쁘게 말한 적이 없다"라고 문 대통령과 트럼프 대통령의 밀착을 밝혔다.

유 이사장은 “비핵화를 위한 종전선언이 우선적 필요 주장은 조지 W 부시 전 미 대통령(공화당)이 지난 2006년 노무현 전 대통령에게 먼저 제안한 것”이라며 "북한이 체제 안전 보장받았다면 핵무기 만들지 않았을 것"이라 밝히고, "북한이 2017년 가을까지 계속 미사일을 쏘다가 2018년부터 갑자기 노선 전환했다. 미국이 대화상대로 인정을 안해주니까 북한이 ICBM을 만들었고, 그래서 (미국이) 대화 받아준 거라는 해석이 있다"고 말하며 공화당의 트럼프 대북전략을 극찬하고, 문 특보는 "그런 면이 있을 것"이라 호응했다.

문 세종연구소 이사장은 이번 11일 아사히신문에 일본 외교에 대해 “수동적이고 과도하게 미국에 의존하고 있다”며 “일본이 지나치게 미국 편 들면 미중 신냉전 고착화로 이어진다. 그럴우 한일 모두 안보 부담 늘고 경제면에서도 손해 크다”고 밝혔다.

문 이사장은 연세대 교수로서 2016년 6월 미 공화당에 트럼프 후보가 결정에 “자격미달”의 반대 여론이 커지자 “트럼프는 우리 입장에서 오히려 재앙이 아니라 축복”이라며 “한미동맹이나 북핵문제에서 통 크게 전환할 수 있다”고 밝혔고 문재인 대통령 외교안보특보가 됐다.
