권 부본부장은 "세포주 수준에서 시험했을 때 (렉키로나가) 기존 남아공 변이에 거의 효과를 안 보였고 그에 비해 브라질 변이에선 2배 이상 효능을 보였으나, (중화능이) 현저히 감소했다"면서 "캘리포니아, 뉴욕, 나이지리아 변이주의 경우 비록 영국 변이주에서 보단 효능이 떨어지지만 남아공 변이주의 5~10배 높은 중화능을 보였다"고 말해, 남아공 변이에 무기력한 결과와 브라질 변이를 대비하는 방싯으로 ‘무기력에 비해 2배 효능’으로 포장했다.

방역 당국은 이어 셀트리온의 렉키로나주는 75개 병원에서 3026명의 환자에게 투여했고, 미국 제약사 길리어드사의 렘데시비르는 125개 병원의 6825명 환자에게 투약됐다고 이날 밝혔다.
