합참이 발사한 에이태킴스(MGM-140A)는 2000년 1월 도입해 사거리 300㎞에 북한 신의주·강계까지 사거리이며 노무현 부시 공화당체제에서 2004년까지 140발을 미국서 도입했다.
윤석열 대통령 당선 직후인 3월24일 북한이 4년여 만에 대륙 간 탄도 미사일(ICBM) 발사를 재개했을 당시 한국군은 에이태킴스 1발을 발사했다.
북한이 지난달 25일 ICBM 재발사와 3발 미사일 발사에 대응해 주한미군이 연합 지대지 미사일 사격에서 에이태킴스 1발을 동해상으로 쐈다．
