박진 ‘바이든 대통령이 잘 풀어가자 반응 보여’라고 말한 반면 조태용 주미대사는 한미 정상들이 ‘협력의지 확인’으로 각각 밝혔다.

미 공화당의 버디 카터 하원의원(조지아주)은 23일 연합뉴스 화상 인터뷰로 "바이든 행정부가 IRA에서 한국 자동차업체 제외한 것은 큰 실수이며, 한미 자유무역협정(FTA) 위반한 것"이라며 "IRA는 잘못된 법으로 의회 차원에서 수정할 수 있다"고 밝혔다.

그는 이어 “순방외교 현장에서 윤 대통령이 우리의 최우방 동맹국을 폄훼하는 듯한 발언을 했다고 기정사실화되는 것이 문제의 본질”이라고 밝혔다.

윤 대통령의 적극적 뉴욕 정상회담 추진이 스탠딩 48초 접촉에 그친 것은 바이든 측이 선거전에서 IRA 성과 홍보를 한국이 비하 소재로 전환하는 것을 기피한 결과로 보인다.
