The Sea in March

Spring Comes to the Spring Sea

by You앤Me Art Place

Still cobalt blue,
a deep blue spread beneath—
the sea in March is still cold.

Though warm sunlight
settles softly upon it,
the wind that blows
is cold.

With the tide of spring drawing near,
my steps grow drowsy,
as though they long to drift.

Standing before the sea,
I linger there
for a long while.

Has it grown deeper today?
On the surface of the sea
sparkle tiny diamonds.
At their sparkle,
my heart beats fast.

What kind of love
could be so deep?
A whisper
calling out to me.

The waves are not rough;
they come in carefully,
then slip away
without a sound.

I want to stand
at that far edge too—
a thought
I wisper to myself.

What is it
that I long to hear?
What is it
that I wish to say?

The sea in March draws me on,
as though it would lead me
to stand in the very middle of the sea.
Perhaps
we will meet there.
