A Starry Night

A Song of the Night

When I lie down at night and close my eyes, stars pour down like rain.
They fall gently over my closed eyelids.
The night is as deep as your eyes.
I keep my eyes shut and see the stars just the same.

So many stars, scattered everywhere,
each one quietly shining.
You and I are nowhere to be seen.
We remain only within our awareness.
Watching a shooting star fall far away,
we laugh together without a sound,
and then—tears come.

Because the country you live in is far away,I invite you by closing my eyes.
Your eyes, sparkling like a deep navy sea,beautiful as the stars themselves,
slowly seep into my own.

Will my soul become a star in your heart?
Will your soul become one too in my heart?
They say longing turns into stars.
Even unfulfilled dreams
will become stars and shine.

Holding the stars of this deepening night,
I fall asleep.
