Heavy Chuseok traffic improves heading into evening
The heavy Chuseok holiday traffic has improved significantly when compared to earlier in the day. According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 6 PM, the drive from Seoul to the southeastern port city of Busan, for example, is expected to take almost five hours, while the return trip could take nearly six. This is close to the usual five-hour travel time during non-holiday periods, and much better than earlier this afternoon, when the Seoul-Busan route took eight hours and the return trip nine. Traffic congestion is expected to ease further late tonight into early Wednesday.
