광굴성

누구에게나 주어지는 하루 24시간 중,
일어나자마자 내가 거는 마법은 '사랑해'다.
침대 옆에 누가 있는 것도 아닌데,
마치 너가 있다는 상상을 하며
스스로의 몸을 안아주는 것이 나의 첫번째 습관이다.
꽃에게도 습관이 있다.
빛이 오는 방향으로 몸을 기울이거나
꽃을 트는 '광굴성'이다.
바라보는 것만으로도 기분이 좋아지는 꽃들도
잎을 활짝 피우기 위해서 땀을 흘리고,
따사로운 햇빛 아래 광합성을 하고 있다.
매일매일 꾸준히 사랑해야지 활짝 피울 수 있으니까.
꽃이 많다고 해서 그 누가 불평할까.
우리는 누군가의 졸업식, 기념일, 결혼식,
심지어 장례식에조차 꽃을 선물한다.
꽃다발, 부케, 화환 등...
꽃에는 각각의 꽃말마저 있어서
때에따라 잘 팔리는 꽃들이 있다.
그런데 이들 모두 싹둑
뿌리가 잘라진채 포장되거나 선물된다.
꽃이 양의 광굴성을 가지고 있다면,
반대로 그 꽃의 뿌리는 음의 광굴성을 가지고 있다.
뿌리는 빛을 피하는 방향으로 자라고 있다.
빛과 반대되는 세상이지만
뿌리가 파묻고 있는 세상에는
수분과 양분이 가득하다.
열과 중력으로 가득한 세계.
그 토양은 지층 깊숙이 연결된 거대한 덩어리다.
그래서 나는 거리 위에 꽃을 볼때마다
그들과 동화된다.
지구를 등에지고 피어난 꽃들에게 말을 걸고
대화하는게 출퇴근길 습관이 되어버렸다.
내가 볼 수 없는 그들의 뿌리이지만
바라보는것만으로도 느껴지고, 위로가 된다.
나의 몸을 안아주는 느낌이랄까.
나에게도 광굴성이 있다.
양의 광굴성과 음의 광굴성이다.
음의 광굴성이 뿌리깊었던 덕분에
겁을 먹고있는 순간조차
내 척추기립근은 꼿꼿이 서있었다.
음의 광굴성이 탄탄했던 덕분에
누군가에게는 별거아닌 일들조차
나에게는 간절한 순간이었다.
새로운 하루를 맞이할 때마다
빛이 오는 방향으로 몸을 기울여
눈부시게 피었던 모든 아침들처럼
난 다시 사랑이었고, 너를 그려나갔다.
그래서 매일 하고있는 이 작은 습관들이
장기적인 관점에서 보았을때
나만의 강력한 무기가 될 것을 알고있다.
매일매일 너와 함께하는 그 장면을 그리고 있으니까.
습관은 그냥 쌓는게 아니라 복리로 자라나는 것이다.
고로, 습관을 쌓는게 아니라 습관을 엮어야 한다.
결국엔 나의 습관들이
내 인생의 큰 자산이자 성공의 열쇠가 될 것이다.
지난 경험들이 나를 성장시키고
세상을 보는 눈을 넓혀주었을 뿐 아니라
자기객관화의 중요성도 일깨워주었다.
정말 습관은 복리처럼 자라난다.
제아무리 열과 중력의 무게로 인해
내가 다시 물을 흘리지언정
매일매일 꾸준히 사랑하고
성장하다보면 언젠가는 큰 성과로 돌아온다.
그리고 그 복리가 쌓여,
언젠가 세상을 뒤흔드는 꽃으로
피어날 것을 믿는다.
지금 이 순간을 살아가는 당신 역시
이미 그 길 위에 서있다.

Everyone is given the same 24 hours in a day.
The magic I cast the moment I wake up is
saying, “I love you.”
There’s no one beside my bed,
but I imagine you’re there,
and the first habit I practice is
wrapping my body in my own embrace.
Even flowers have their habits.
They lean their bodies toward the light,
blooming with what’s called “phototropism.”
Flowers that brighten our mood
with just a glance
also sweat to open their leaves wide,
and perform photosynthesis under the warm sunlight.
They must love consistently every day
to bloom fully.
No one ever complains about
having too many flowers.
We give flowers on graduations,
anniversaries, weddings,
and even funerals.
Bouquets, corsages, wreaths...
Each flower carries its own language of meaning,
and some bloom better
depending on the occasion.
But all of them are cut short—
their roots severed—before being wrapped or gifted.
If a flower shows positive phototropism,
its roots have negative phototropism.
Roots grow away from light.
Though they live in a world opposite to light,
the soil they’re buried in is full of moisture and nutrients.
A world filled with heat and gravity,
the soil is a massive lump connected deep within the earth’s layers.
So whenever I see flowers on the street,
I feel a deep connection with them.
Talking to flowers growing with their backs
to the earth has become my routine
on the way to and from work.
Though I can’t see their roots,
just looking at them makes me feel
and find comfort
like they’re hugging me back.
I too have phototropism,
both positive and negative.
Because my negative phototropism was deeply rooted,
even when I was scared,
my spine stood tall and straight.
Because my negative phototropism was solid,
moments that seemed trivial to others
were deeply meaningful to me.
Every new day, I tilt my body toward the light,
just like those dazzling mornings when I bloomed.
I was love again,
and I painted you in my mind.
So I know these small daily habits
will become my powerful weapon
in the long run.
Because every day,
I am drawing that scene with you.
Habits don’t just accumulate
they grow like compound interest.
So, it’s not about stacking habits,
but weaving them together.
Ultimately, my habits
will be my greatest asset and the key to success.
Past experiences have helped me grow,
broadened my perspective,
and taught me the importance of self-reflection.
Truly, habits grow like compound interest.
No matter the weight of heat and gravity,
even if I falter and spill water again,
as long as I love consistently
and keep growing every day,
one day it will return as great results.
And when that compound interest accumulates,
I believe it will one day bloom
into a flower that shakes the world.
